Chapter 1347: Can’t Lose to Him

Chapter 1347: Can’t Lose to Him

"The Chapman Family has joined forces with other hospitals to stir up protests," Charles Seymour said in a low voice.Sophie Wilson raised an eyebrow.

"Quite a few hospitals are already standing shoulder to shoulder with them," Charles went on.

Sophie rubbed her chin and said with a laugh, "Interesting."

"Instead of focusing on their own business, the Chapmans just keep staring at me. What’s so fun about that?" Sophie sneered.

"Your hospital has already dealt the Chapmans a pretty significant blow," Charles stated matter-of-factly.

"Well, nothing I can do. I just happen to have hired some very capable people," Sophie shrugged. "Alright, I’ll go take a look at the hospital tomorrow."

If the Chapmans dared to pull any shady tricks, she would "destroy" them.

"Mm." Charles nodded, then reached out to pull Sophie into his arms, letting out a soft sigh. "As long as you’re back."

Sophie could hear the longing in his words and couldn’t help but laugh as she asked, "So you really did miss me, huh?"

"Yeah." Charles nodded without hesitation, then frowned, staring at her in dissatisfaction. "You didn’t miss me?"

"Honey, you come over every couple of days. With that frequency, do you really think we have time to pine for each other?" Sophie asked him speechlessly.

"And every time you come, you stay over for two days," Sophie stated bluntly. "We honestly haven’t reached the point of being crazed with longing, have we?"

Charles stared at Sophie with a wounded look. That gaze made all the hairs on Sophie’s arms stand on end. She quickly raised her hands in surrender. "My bad, I was wrong. I think we absolutely should be missing each other that much!"

"You think so too?" Charles asked, the corners of his lips lifting slightly.

"That’s right, that’s exactly what I think!" Sophie hurriedly said, very serious.

"Then let’s have some in-depth communication about it," Charles lunged.

Sophie, on the verge of tears: "You bastard!"

So in the end, no matter how he started that line of talk, there was only ever one conclusion in his mind?

Shameless man!

Still, she couldn’t lose to him!

Sophie fought back.

Then, someone’s spirits were instantly lifted; he pushed Sophie down and devoured her completely.

Only when he was holding her in his arms, feeling her so vividly, could Charles truly be at ease.

Sophie might be joking around, but she still did her best to go along with him.

The years in that illegal company were something neither she nor Charles ever wanted to recall.

To her, that place meant pain, death, and memories too unbearable to look back on.

To Charles, it was danger, heartache and...loss.

She understood how Charles felt. For him, her "perishing together" back then had turned into a recurring nightmare in his heart, something he could never touch.

As long as Charles could be sure Sophie was still here, he could relax, and of course he wouldn’t let her wear herself out right after coming back.

Even so, Sophie still fell asleep.

A month of training had exhausted not just those being trained, but her as well.

Charles looked at the sleeping face in his arms and let out a soft sigh in his heart.

Sophie was just that considerate. She was worried he’d be reminded of the past, but there was one thing she didn’t consider.

For her, that illegal company was a hell of suffering, a place she had no choice but to exist in.

For him, it was somewhere he stepped into fully prepared.

By the time he entered that illegal company, he was already an adult, while she had been struggling to survive there since she was a child.

And she was still worrying that thinking about that illegal company might make him uncomfortable... His Sophie, the one who made his heart ache...
