Chapter 115: Making Up His Mind For Revenge

Chapter 115: Making Up His Mind For Revenge

Valentine Anderson's gaze fell upon the trio, his heart sinking as the sight of Pete cemented the truth that Mrs. Willow had forewarned before their departure for Vegas.

His eyes, now mirrors of anguish, turned a deeper shade, reflecting a soul cast adrift. With heavy steps, he moved toward the car, his spirit a shadow of the hopeful vigor with which he had arrived. The reality before him struck with such force, it left him reeling in a stupor.

He opened the backseat door of the car and collapsed into it, the hope he had carried now seemed like distant whispers, drowned out by the starkness of what lay before his eyes.

In the driver's seat, Mrs. Willow caught sight of Valentine in the rearview mirror. A subtle, satisfied curve teased the edges of her lips.

Noticing Lucas Anderson and Andrea Singers beginning to approach her var, Mrs. Willow swiftly exited the car. With an air of contrived concern, she addressed them, "My apologies, Sir and Ma'am. My husband and I seem to have been misinformed about his grandmother's address. I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience. We really must be going."

With a final, cordial smile, Mrs. Willow retreated back into the car.

Andrea, still processing the exchange, remained silent, but Pete's innocence broke the quiet. "Mom, who are they?"

"They are just strangers searching for their grandmother," Andrea explained, her voice tinged with contemplation.

Upon hearing Andrea's words, Valentine, already a vessel of despair, was suddenly consumed by a fiery anger. His jaw clenched tight, a storm brewing within him, he made to exit the car and confront Andrea. But Mrs. Willow, anticipating his reaction, had preemptively secured the doors. Without hesitation, she put the car in reverse and sped away.

As the car doors clicked locked, Valentine Anderson's rage boiled over. His eyes, bloodshot and seething, locked onto Mrs. Willow with a glare that could shatter glass. "Stop the car right now!" he bellowed with a voice thick with fury.

But Mrs. Willow was undeterred. Rather than pressing the brake, she slammed the accelerator, speeding up the vehicle and igniting Valentine's wrath further. In a blind rage, he launched his fist at the windshield, the impact resonating with his crazed roar, "I said stop the car!"

Finally sensing the gravity of the situation as they sped away from the Singers mansion, knowing full well that Valentine would not encounter Andrea and Lucas Anderson if he tried to return, Mrs. Willow conceded. She hit the brakes, and the car screeched to a halt, miles from where their confrontation could have any immediate consequences.

Valentine Anderson flung open the door and stormed out, his expression a thunderous tempest of fury. Mrs. Willow's panic spiked; she hastily exited the car and, upon seeing Valentine charging towards the Singers' mansion, she gave chase, gasping for breath.

When she caught up to him, she grabbed his arm, her voice tinged with desperation, "Valentine Anderson, listen to me!"

"Why should I listen to you?" he spat back, his bloodshot eyes and twisted face radiating intimidation that struck fear into Mrs. Willow.

Taking a deep, calming breath, Mrs. Willow attempted to suppress her own anger, then spoke with a controlled intensity, "Do you really think revealing yourself as Valentine Anderson will keep you safe? That Andrea will come back to you? You're no longer the powerful businessman who could bring Vegas City to its knees. You're penniless, powerless, and the only person who might protect you can't shield you from Andrea and Lucas. They aren't just powerful; they're rich and influential."

Valentine Anderson withdrew his gaze from Mrs. Willow with impatience and continued his march towards the Singers' mansion. Mrs. Willow, frustrated and angry, reflected on her privileged life, first as the pampered Glow family daughter and then as the wife in the Willow family, where her word was law. This was the first time she had not been met with absolute obedience, and it irked her deeply.

Regaining her composure, she called out to Valentine, who had put some distance between them, "Go on to Singers mansion if you must, but remember, I won't be there to rescue you again like I did before."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked back to the car, muttering to herself in a mix of frustration and anger. She regretted choosing Valentine Anderson, a man who, despite his lack of cunning or low intelligence, had an undeniable talent for wealth accumulation. If he weren't for this, she would have left him behind without a second thought.

Watching Valentine Anderson through the car's side mirror, standing a few meters away, lost in thought, she clenched her fists.

Unbeknownst to her, Valentine was deep in contemplation about the bomb blast and the subsequent investigation that had ended inconclusively as a terrorist attack, with no arrests made.

Valentine's resolve began to crumble as he realized that Andrea and Lucas were could suppress him without even moving finger.

With reluctant steps, he returned to the car, where an uncomfortable silence enveloped them both.

Mrs. Willow was too excited to make things difficult for Valentine Anderson, so she simply started the car and drove to the hotel they booked for night. . Since they are pretending to be husband and wife they booked a suite themselves.

Valentine Anderson had been silent for half an hour, yet Mrs. Willow could feel the weight of his sadness and depression. With a knowing smile curling her lips, she broke the silence, "Valentine, I can see you're seething with anger knowing your betrayers are out there, living without a care. Why not join forces with me? Once I take control of my husband's company, the Willow Group, I'll stand by you. Together, we can settle scores with those who stripped everything from you."

Valentine's gaze met Mrs. Willow's as he shot back, "And why should I put my trust in you? How can I be certain you won't turn on me like the rest have?"

Unruffled, Mrs. Willow simply smiled, taking a leisurely sip of her red wine. As she savored the flavor, her eyes locked onto Valentine's, and her voice took on a grave tone, "Because our fates are intertwined by betrayal. I've been backstabbed by those I held dear; you too have been double-crossed by your closest ones. But do you know what truly sets us apart?"

Her hold on the glass intensified, her expression fierce, "We are justified in making those who caused us pain to endure even greater agony."

Galvanized by her words, Valentine surged to his feet, fists clenched, the fire of vengeance in his eyes. "I'm with you. I'll help you reclaim Willow Group, but only if I'm named chairman. You must vow to back me up in my quest for retribution against Andrea and Lucas!"

Hatred and anger blazed within Valentine Anderson's eyes, revealing the depth of his resolve.
