Chapter 623: An Impostor
Chapter 623: An Impostor
The tension in the room was thick as everyone waited for Brenda’s next words.
She stayed calm, eyes fixed on the countdown to the commercial break.
“Here’s why I’m hesitating,” she said. “The last two contestants were both exceptional, each with a total of 37.1. If I show any bias, I could tip the scales.”
She looked over at Bianca. “After careful thought, I’ve decided to give both of them a perfect score of 10, bringing their totals to 38.1. This means we have a tie for first place.”
The room erupted in disbelief.
“A tie? What does this mean for Universal Pictures? Are they signing both Reese and Sophia? Emerald Artists Agency must be celebrating!”
“Two perfect scores? I didn’t see that coming. I thought Mylo and Rayan had it, but this twist changes everything.”
The internet exploded with outrage.
"This is rigged! Two perfect scores from Brenda? Unbelievable. Where’s that guy who promised to eat his words? Time to see if he does it!”
“This is a joke. A so-called fair competition ends like this? Universal Pictures might as well have signed Reese from the start. We’ve all been played.”
“And the online voting system? You had to pay to vote. It was just a money grab!”
“I demand the results be thrown out!”
“Rayan was clearly better. Why did Brenda only give him 8 points? Just because she didn’t get paid off by him?”
“This sham needs to end!” The audience was stunned as Blake snatched the host’s microphone and strode to the center of the stage.
The crowd erupted in confusion, whispers rippling as they tried to figure out what was happening.
“As the event organizer, I have to confess that the competition was rigged from the start. Certain people tried to manipulate the event I worked so hard to plan, and I won’t stand for it.”
Blake’s eyes narrowed, and he pointed sharply at Brenda. “You’re not Brenda McGee, you’re an imposter!”
The room fell silent in shock. Viewers watching the livestream filled the comment section with question marks, struggling to believe what they were seeing.
Blake’s words sliced through the air, and the room went still. All eyes turned to Brenda.
“Mr. Lawson, what are you saying? How could I be an imposter?” Brenda asked, her voice tinged with panic. “You’d better have proof for that accusation.”
“Proof? I have it. And you won’t have the chance to run now.” Blake raised his hand, and his men quickly surrounded the stage.
“Mr. Lawson, you do realize this is being broadcast live nationwide? Millions are watching on TV and online. I suggest you stay calm. If needed, we can talk backstage,” Brenda said.
Blake’s eyes swept over Bianca and Dave in the audience before shifting to the control booth. His team had already taken over, signaling to him.
“Today, I’m going to expose this whole scam. As the event’s organizer, I’m a victim too. The real mastermind is Dave, CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group!” Blake pointed straight at Dave, his tone turning colder.
“He’s the one behind everything!”
Bianca’s face darkened. Blake had let her down completely.
“Everyone, look at the screen.” Blake motioned, and the screen lit up with photos that had been spreading online.
The crowd erupted, and the online chatter exploded.
“Breaking news: Hidden scandal in the Universal Actor Selection, masterminded by the Phoenix Alliance Group’s Competition CEO!”
Onstage, Blake kept flashing photos and evidence, hammering accusation after accusation at Dave.
“Brenda turned down Dave’s proposal, and then she was abducted. The woman standing here isn’t the real Brenda McGee, but someone who had surgery to look like her!”
Blake’s team put up proof, records from a plastic surgery clinic, and photos showing the woman’s face changing step by step.
The original features were blurry, but the resemblance to Brenda became more and more obvious.
“This is a massive conspiracy! Dave has been pulling the strings for six months. Around that time, Phoenix Entertainment and Emerald Artists Agency started pushing Reese into the spotlight. Without this proof, no one would’ve believed the boldness of Phoenix Alliance Group’s scheme!”
He turned to Brenda. “What do you have to say now?”
“No, it’s all fake!” Brenda’s panic was clear as she shot a desperate look at Dave, her eyes pleading for help. The cameras zoomed in, capturing her expression and broadcasting it to millions.
“No way! This is unreal! Brenda’s reaction almost proves Blake’s accusations!”
“Six months in the making? No wonder the other agencies couldn’t keep up. Phoenix Alliance Group’s methods are outrageous!”
“The more I think about it, the scarier it gets. They planned this months ago, finding someone to get surgery just to replace the real Brenda. If she agreed, fine. But if not, they swapped her out? This is darker than any thriller!”
“This could be a movie. It’s insane.”
The camera turned to Dave in the audience. Someone passed him a microphone.
Dave took it calmly, his voice cutting through the tense air. “You’re right. The woman on stage is an impostor.”
The crowd exploded in shock. No one had expected the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group to admit to such a huge lie. For a moment, the room froze.
“An impostor? She actually had surgery to look like Brenda McGee? That’s unbelievable!”
“If that’s true, then Reese’s win has to be fake, too. This will ruin Phoenix Alliance Group’s reputation with Universal Pictures. Every company connected to them will take a hit. Lying to Universal Pictures? This is a disaster.”
“Fraud! They didn’t just lie to Universal Pictures, they lied to millions of viewers!”
“I’m done with Emerald Artists Agency. I’m ending my contract and demanding compensation for this breach!”
“Exactly! A company that uses people like pawns is beyond unethical.”
Blake stood tall on the stage, his voice cutting through the noise. “Back then, the stock price of Phoenix Alliance Group never dropped. I don’t know what tricks you pulled or how many lives you destroyed, but I lost my own father because of this.”
The crowd fell silent. Whispers spread quickly; many remembered Blake’s father’s suicide. Now it seemed his death might be tied to the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group. The revelation shook everyone.
“I’m sorry about your father’s death. But the police investigation ruled it as suicide,” Dave said in a serious tone.
Blake gave a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “Of course, you’d say that. But today, in front of everyone, I’ll tear off your mask and reveal who you really are!”
He turned toward the cameras, raising his hand. “Listen, everyone! Yes, I’m the organizer of this competition, but I’m also a victim. I have no affiliation with the Phoenix Alliance Group. I only ran this event; I was never part of any fraud!”
