Chapter 535: The Evans Group Should Be Mine
Chapter 535: The Evans Group Should Be Mine
Bianca called the two bodyguards Dave had assigned to her office. They didn’t dare ignore the summons. As soon as they entered, they greeted her formally and stood straight.
“How can we help you?” they asked.
They carried themselves like trained royal guards.
Bianca still wasn’t used to how stiff they were with her, but she knew she couldn’t change it. So she got straight to the point.
“Can you both pretend to be careless? Let my enemies think they have a chance to kidnap me. But stay close enough to keep me safe.”
The two guards looked shaken. One of them quickly said, “We can’t do that. What would we tell our boss if something happened to you?”
Bianca folded her arms and stared at them. “And who am I to you?”
“Mrs. Evans!”
“If you don’t follow my orders, are you really doing what your boss asked? Or are you just obeying out of habit?”
“We’ll step in if we sense danger,” one of them replied.
“That’s fine. But I need you both to work with me,” Bianca said, a sly smile on her face.
The two guards looked at each other, unsure of what she was planning.
Once everything was in place, Bianca chose to visit less crowded spots. She had to give her enemies a chance to make a move. Whether Rupert’s people would take the bait depended on how capable they really were.
Rupert’s men didn’t show up until ten that night. By then, Bianca realized the two bodyguards were gone. She couldn’t see them anywhere. They were trained to hide well.
What she didn’t know was that Rupert’s men had already arrived. They had split into two teams and secretly led each bodyguard away.
Now, Bianca was alone.
She walked into the garage, about to get in her car. Suddenly, someone came up behind her with a sack, trying to grab her.
At that same moment, the two bodyguards had already taken down the first two groups of Rupert’s men. They hurried back and reached the garage just as Bianca was about to be taken.
They looked at each other, and then secretly followed the attackers.
An hour later, someone finally pulled the sack off Bianca’s head. The bright light hit her eyes, making it hard to see. She squinted until her vision adjusted.
Standing in front of her was Rupert.
“Surprised?” he said. “Now that you’ve seen me, I’ll get straight to the point.”
He snapped his fingers. One of his men stepped forward, holding a knife.
“If you agree to leave Dave, I’ll send you out of the country tonight. You’ll live. But if you say no, I’ll have this knife leave a scar on your face and destroy you.”
The man pressed the blade against Bianca’s cheek.
She forced herself to stay calm. She didn’t know if Dave’s men were near. But she knew she had to stick to her plan.
First, she pretended to be scared. Then she spoke in a trembling voice.
“Aren’t you… Dave’s uncle? I don’t want trouble. Why are you doing this to me?”
Rupert watched Bianca carefully, clearly enjoying her reaction. The more afraid she looked, the more satisfied he seemed.
“What? Don’t you understand yet?” he said.
Bianca’s hands shook as she faced him. “What are you trying to do? Telling me to leave Dave won’t help you. If that’s what you want, don’t I deserve to know why?”
Rupert walked up to her. He stared at her, the woman who took Dave's heart.
“You really are stunning,” he said. “No wonder Dave’s so hooked on you. But sadly, beauty doesn’t always come with brains.”
At that moment, Rupert thought Bianca was completely clueless. He felt a bit disappointed. No one seemed to grasp his clever moves. What a shame.
“Miss Scott, you know what choice to make, don’t you? It’s always better to live. Life gets pretty hard when your face is ruined.”
Bianca let out a sharp scoff. “Rupert, do you really think pushing me away is enough to beat Dave? You’re seriously underestimating him.”
Her bold words lit a fire in Rupert’s chest. He gave her a cold sneer, now more eager to prove her wrong.
“I’m not the one who’ll destroy him,” he said. “Lucas will. I just have to sit back and enjoy the outcome.”
“I used you to turn Lucas and Dave against each other. And it worked. Their relationship is falling apart. Do you really think I want you dead? It’s Lucas who wants to see you gone. Once you disappear from Edenfield, Dave will blame his grandfather. They’ll destroy each other. And I’ll be the one left standing.”
Rupert raised his hand and slowly made a fist as if taking control of everything.
“The Evans Group should be mine. I’m Lucas’s son. Why did he hand it to Dave instead?”
His voice turned bitter. “Lucas’s old and confused. He should’ve retired and joined my mother in the afterlife. I want him gone, but Dave will be blamed for it. That way, I get rid of both of them at once. Then, the Evans Group will be mine completely. And you, Bianca… you’re the spark that will push Dave over the edge.”
Bianca had already guessed his plan. Still, hearing Rupert admit it out loud made her stomach turn.
He had no respect for his father and no heart for Dave. He was cruel and ruthless. Just for power, he was willing to kill his own father.
It was beyond twisted.
“What a shame that only you know my plan,” Rupert said with a smug smile. “But I don’t mind telling you.”
Bianca suddenly looked up at him. “Were you the one behind the plane crash Wyatt was in?”
Rupert sneered. “That’s right. The Evans Group has power everywhere. If we want someone dead, they won’t live, no matter where they are.”
Bianca’s face darkened. “Don’t you feel any guilt for killing so many innocent people?”
“Guilt?” Rupert laughed coldly. “When you’re aiming for power, you don’t worry about things like that. Those people don’t matter.”
After speaking, Rupert slowly stepped back, his eyes cold. “Now, make your choice. Call Dave. Tell him you were only with him for his money and that you’ve found someone better. If you do, I’ll send you out of the country tonight. If not…”
He reached out and touched Bianca’s face, grinning in a twisted way. “Then I can’t promise you’ll still look the same afterward.”
But Rupert had no plan to let her go. Even if she made the call, he would kill her. Then he’d inform Dave about it. Dave would think it was Lucas’s doing and lose control. Rupert liked that idea. He looked forward to watching it happen.
