Chapter 528: Everything Was Overwhelming
Chapter 528: Everything Was Overwhelming
Bianca was stunned by his sudden question. Panic flickered in her eyes as she pressed her lips together.
So this was why he came here? But how did he even know?
“Why didn’t you tell me before you did it?” he asked again when she stayed quiet.
Bianca didn’t answer. She didn’t know how to explain her situation.
Anything she said might upset him more. And honestly, she didn’t have a good reason for what she’d done.
Dave took her silence the wrong way.
To him, it felt like she didn’t care. Or maybe she just didn’t want to talk to him about it.
If it had been anything else, he might’ve let it go.
But that necklace wasn’t just jewelry. It was a symbol of their love.
He didn’t know the real reason she did it. Maybe it was everything piling up, work stress, Wyatt’s crash, and now Bianca keeping things from him.
It all built up inside him like pressure in a volcano.
And now, it was finally exploding. He couldn’t hold it back anymore.
“That necklace was a symbol of our love!” Dave shouted. “How could you pawn it like it meant nothing? What do you take me for? What do you think this relationship is, something cheap that you can just toss aside any moment?”
If it weren’t for that necklace, he wouldn’t have sent Wyatt to Heliosara. None of this would’ve happened. Wyatt might still be alive.
Everything was too much. The pain, the guilt, the stress—everything was overwhelming, and he ended up yelling at Bianca.
But right after that, regret hit him hard. His body shook.
This was the first time he had ever raised his voice at her.
Bianca stood there, feeling hurt. Her eyes turned red, and her nose stung. But even then, she was more worried about Dave than herself.
Bianca gently reached for his hand, trying to calm him down.
“Don’t be mad. I’ll find a way to get the necklace back. Please, just trust me,” she said softly.
However, Dave was still too upset. He pulled his hand away.
“I don’t want to hear anything from you right now,” he snapped.
Then he turned and walked away without looking back.
He knew that if he stayed, things would only get worse.
He could barely control his emotions, but he forced himself to walk away.
They’d talk again when he had cooled down.
As Dave walked away, he gave a subtle signal.
Two bodyguards, who had been hiding nearby, stepped out and slowly moved to stand beside Bianca.
She was stunned for a moment. Then, she finally recalled that Dave had done this before. He’d once sent his men to follow and watch her.
Was this because of the necklace? Did he no longer trust her?
Did he now see her the same way Lucas did—as a gold digger?
Her chest tightened in pain.
“Dave! What is this supposed to mean? You're sending people to watch me again?” she called out with a shaking voice.
Dave didn’t say a word. He kept walking until he was out of sight.
Bianca was utterly shocked and her eyes filled with tears.
“I thought we agreed to trust each other,” she whispered.
A flash of lightning lit up the sky, and for a brief second, she saw his figure in the distance.
She shivered. Something about him felt different now; like he was slowly becoming a stranger.
Then his voice came through the rain. Cold. Distant.
“I’m only doing this to protect you.”
Dave disappeared right before Bianca’s eyes, swallowed by the darkness.
A bolt of lightning lit up the spot where he stood. He was gone.
Rain hit the window hard, sounding like a sad song.
That’s when Bianca knew she’d messed up.
She wanted to get the red diamond before Dave found out. But she didn’t think he’d figure it out this fast.
She told the owner of Prosper Pawnshop the deal was for six months. It wasn’t time to buy the diamond back yet, and the owner couldn’t sell it. So no one else was supposed to know.
Now it looked like the owner had broken the deal and sold the red diamond to someone else.
Bianca quickly called the owner, but no one picked up. That told her everything.
Her stomach sank. She didn’t expect the owner to lie to her.
She thought about how Dave must feel. He didn’t say anything, but she could tell he was mad.
“Oh no, I really messed up,” she whispered.
Guilt filled her heart. She wished she had just told Dave the truth from the start.
Now, he made sure someone was always watching her. He wanted to know everything she did.
Bianca felt annoyed but didn’t argue with the bodyguards. She just went back to her office.
Outside, rain poured down as people rushed to find cover.
A flashy, limited-edition sports car sped past, splashing water into the air.
Dave held the wheel tightly. He couldn’t stop thinking about how much he regretted what happened with Bianca.
His eyes were red with impatience and regret.
The one who caused all this was his own grandfather.
He couldn’t take it anymore. He stepped on the gas and headed straight for Evans's mansion.
When he arrived, he slammed the car door shut and walked straight toward Lucas. Every step showed how angry he was.
Lucas was in the dim living room, quietly sipping tea. His face changed when he saw Dave walk in, soaked with rain.
"Why are you here?" Lucas asked, a bit confused.
Dave stood over him with a dark face like a heavy storm.
"Why would you do that?" His voice shook. He was trying hard not to break.
Lucas frowned and looked him in the eye. "I don’t understand. What are you talking about?"
Dave’s face twisted with anger. He raised his voice.
"Grandpa, do you even know what you’ve done? You’ve been trying to control me no matter the cost. You had someone mess with that plane, didn’t you? There were so many people on it. Families were waiting for them to come home. You killed Wyatt and others just to control me. How could you be so ruthless?"
Disappointment showed in Lucas’s eyes as he looked at Dave.
To him, Dave was acting just like his eldest son, the one who let him down.
It reminded him of Dave’s father, a man ruled by feelings.
Lucas coughed and didn’t answer the question.
Rupert was the one who caused the accident. Lucas knew about it. But he didn’t think Rupert had done anything wrong.
Those passengers didn’t matter to him.
He believed that chasing his goals was worth any price even if innocent people had to suffer. He felt no guilt about it.
