Chapter 447: Hitting Michael
Chapter 447: Hitting Michael
The people she wouldn’t part with? Thoughts of her mother and brother flashed in her mind. Bianca lifted her head to look at Dave's eyes.
At that moment, Bianca hadn’t thought much. She just wanted to save Sophia. Now, looking back, she realized she had been a bit reckless.
But she knew she would have regretted doing nothing.
"My thoughts are none of your concern, are they?" Bianca snapped at him.
She had chosen to cut all ties with him, yet he kept bothering her.
Dave didn’t seem to hear her dismissive tone. His expression grew serious as he leaned in, looking as if he desperately needed an answer.
"Before you made this decision, did you think about those who love you or those you love? Bianca, have you considered what would happen to your mother, your brother, and..." Dave paused, struggling to control his emotions. "Do you have any idea how devastated and helpless they would feel?"
Dave couldn’t bear the thought of a world without Bianca. It reminded him too much of the day he lost his father in a car accident, a memory full of helplessness and sorrow.
He often wondered why love and acceptance seemed so out of reach for him.
The pain in his chest felt sharp, like a wound reopened, and he could almost hear his own blood echoing in his ears.
"Mr. Evans, if you're here to lecture me, I'm sorry, but I’m not in the right state of mind for it." Bianca stood up, her gaze cold and distant. "And as for what happened, if you hadn’t stopped me last night, Sophia’s situation wouldn’t have turned out like this! You have no right to tell me what to do."
"What are you talking about?"
"You told me Michael wouldn’t hurt Sophia, yet he acted inappropriately towards her! You come from wealthy, influential families. You've never shown respect for us commoners. All you care about is fulfilling your own desires. No matter how successful Sophia becomes in the film industry, you think you can treat her however you want! You all see women as objects. If you can’t have them, you try to ruin them!" Bianca couldn’t hold back her loud protest.
Dave’s usually calm eyes showed discomfort. "What exactly did Michael do last night?"
Bianca scowled. "Why don’t you go ask him directly what he did to make Sophia want to take her own life? Dave, this is my final act of respect towards you. I don’t know what your intentions are, but if you still have any feelings for me, please just let me go. I refuse to suffer the same fate as Sophia, and I don’t want to wake up someday hating you so much.”
Bianca grabbed her purse, ready to leave.
"Bianca!"
She paused for a moment.
"Won’t you stay for dinner before you go?"
Bianca bit her lip and replied, "I don’t deserve it. The next time I dine in a place like this, it'll be because I paid for it myself."
With that, Bianca opened the door and left without a second glance.
Dave leaned back in his chair, then suddenly grabbed the teacup from the table and threw it to the floor, where it shattered.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Michael.
The call connected quickly. "Hello, Dave, what’s up?"
"Michael, get over here in ten minutes, or I’ll cut off all your funding for projects abroad!"
Michael was taken aback. What had gotten into Dave? Still, he didn’t dare waste any time. He quickly asked where Dave was and rushed over.
When Michael opened the door to the private room, he found Dave by the French window, lighting a cigarette. His tall figure was shrouded in smoke.
Seeing the shattered teacup on the floor, Michael felt a twinge of guilt. He approached Dave carefully.
"Dave," he whispered softly.
Dave turned around, tossed the cigarette aside, and crushed it under his leather shoe. He walked toward Michael.
A shadow crossed his face, and Michael’s heart pounded heavily.
Before Michael could react, Dave’s fist hit his face.
Stumbling back a few steps, Michael looked up in shock and yelled, "Why did you punch me?"
Dave flexed his wrist and glared at him coldly. "You know exactly what you did last night, you beast!"
Michael's face stiffened and his anger gave way to sorrow. He poked his bruised cheek with his tongue and slumped into a chair.
"You... you know everything? It... it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing last night."
Dave stepped forward, grabbed Michael by the collar, and yanked him up. "All the awful things you've done to Sophia, all because of your so-called impulses. I regret stopping Bianca last night!"
"Bianca?" Michael's eyes widened in shock. "Did she tell you about that?"
A sneer spread across his lips.
"Dave, aren't we the same?"
"Have you treated Bianca any better? What would you do if she flirted with another man in front of you and chose him over you?"
Dave’s eyes darkened as he thought about his response.
He lost control whenever he saw Bianca with Blake. He wanted to take her away, hide her from everyone.
He even felt a destructive urge, wanting to make her admit her mistakes and regret her choices.
But if he did, what would he gain? Would Bianca ever be with him again?
Thinking of Sophia, he realized he might have been wrong.
When Wyatt told him Bianca had jumped into the sea to save Sophia, he was furious. She had risked her life so carelessly. To him, her life was everything.
His frown slowly faded. It was like he suddenly understood something. A hint of relief softened his expression.
He let go of Michael and looked at him coldly. "Michael, we’re not the same. I won’t make the same choices as you."
Michael stared at Dave’s calm, handsome face in shock. After a moment, he sneered. "Are you really willing to see her marry someone else and just wish her happiness? Stop fooling yourself. If you’ve given up on her, why did you rush to that club the night I returned? Don’t you want to control her, make her yours?"
Dave sneered back, looking up at him. "Do you really think forcing yourself on a woman or locking her up will win her heart? Michael, do you know why Sophia went to the seaside? Because she'd rather die than be with you!"
His words hit Michael like a dagger, leaving him speechless.
