Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 178

Chapter 178

Giovanni's Perspective

Every word she spoke was like a sharp blade piercing my heart, and I could feel the pain in my chest spreading with every moment. Her love, which I had once thought was false, now created endless doubt and anger within me. Yet, here she was, standing against me while expressing her feelings with such genuine sincerity.

"No...," I muttered, trying to stop this. My wolf struggled within me, raging as if it were about to break free from its bonds.

"Don't do this, please," she pleaded, her voice carrying a note of determination. I saw her hand reach for the dagger at Alpha Galen's waist, a razor-sharp silver blade that glinted in the moonlight.

"No!" I roared, desperate to stop her, but it felt as though an invisible force was holding me back, preventing me from moving.

Her grip tightened around the hilt of the dagger, her movements swift and practiced, like a hunter skilled in her craft. Alpha Galen, caught off guard, took a startled step back, but it was too late.

With surprising calmness and without hesitation, she drove the dagger into her own abdomen. Time seemed to freeze in that moment; my pupils contracted, and my heart felt as though it were being torn into a million pieces. My wolf let out a mournful wail, but all I could do was watch her body slowly collapse.

Blood flowed along the dagger, staining her clothes red, and her body appeared so fragile and helpless under the moonlight. Finally breaking free from the invisible force, I rushed to her side, embracing her gradually cold body.

"Why...," my voice trembled, my fingers gently brushing her face, trying to wipe away the tears from her eyes.

She smiled weakly, her eyes still filled with the same unrequited love and affection. "Because... to me, you will always be my favorite brother. I can't let you make the wrong choice for me," she said with great effort, her voice growing fainter.

"No... you shouldn't..." My heart felt like it was being torn into pieces, the pain surging through me like a tidal wave. My wolf growled and hissed inside me, wanting to destroy everything, but remaining powerless to act.

"I'm sorry... for making you suffer... Please grant me one last request, okay?" Her voice was weak, filled with a pleading tone. "I hope my death will make you forgive my father for what he once did to you, okay?"

Her voice faded, her final words drifting softly into my ears like a feather.

Her breathing slowed in my arms, and the last of her warmth gradually dissipated. I held her lifeless body, feeling as though the world had crumbled around me.

The moment her breathing ceased, I felt something being violently torn from the depths of my soul. It was a torment deeper than physical pain, as if countless sharp blades were stabbing my heart simultaneously, with blood pouring out. I couldn't breathe; my chest felt hollow, overwhelmed by the tearing agony.

Our bond—the connection that once allowed me to sense every fragment of her emotions and every breath—shattered in that instant. The warmth and familiarity vanished, leaving only a chilling emptiness.

A sharp pain pulsed through my head, and my vision blurred. I felt my strength draining away, as if something were pulling the life out of me. I collapsed to my knees, my hands hanging uselessly by my sides, and even breathing became a struggle. Her blood stained my hands, and my wolf emitted a mournful wail within me, as if the entire world was collapsing in that moment.

The backlash of the broken bond felt like a feral beast ripping apart every nerve and muscle. Her departure had not only stolen my heart but also disrupted the last of my internal balance. I felt hollow, as darkness spread endlessly within me, consuming all hope and light.

The loss of power was more deadly than any wound. My limbs began to numb, and the wolf within me fell into a feeble struggle. It ceased to be a source of strength in battle and became a dying beast, wailing as it sank along with me. I could sense myself losing control of my body, becoming weak and lifeless.

"She... she's gone," I mumbled, my voice hoarse and broken.

The emptiness in my heart rendered me incapable of feeling anything else, only pain like burning chains tightly wrapped around my chest, scorching every inch of my being.

I let out a low, agonized growl, uncontrollably burying my face in the cold side of her neck, yearning to feel the last trace of her breath, even if it was only the residual warmth of her body. But it was all in vain—her life had completely vanished from this world.

I curled up beside her in anguish, feeling as if the entire world was turning away from me. In losing her, I had lost myself. I was no longer the powerful Alpha but an empty shell stripped of everything. The weakness from the broken bond prevented me from rising again, as if my bones had been drained of strength; every movement felt heavy.

All that remained in my mind was her smile, her voice, and her final loving words: "I love you." But now, no one could save me. The pain, I knew, would be with me forever and would never end.

The warriors around me remained motionless, and all that lingered in the air was silence and the scent of death. Alpha Galen stood to the side, his smug smile long gone, replaced by a look of terror and unease.

I raised my head and cast a cold, icy gaze toward him. At that moment, anger and grief surged through me like monstrous waves, completely engulfing me. "You will pay for this." My voice was low and cold, each word dripping with undeniable killing intent.

Alpha Galen's face went pale, and he realized there was no escape.

"Take him away," I ordered, my voice carrying a chilling authority.

The warriors quickly obeyed, dragging Galen and Silas away, leaving behind a trail of blood and shattered dreams. I remained where I was, holding Fern's body, when I heard a sound coming from the grass nearby.

I looked up and saw a man approaching us slowly. It was Oliver.

"Are you satisfied now?" Oliver's eyes were filled with hatred. "She's dead. Tell me, is this what you wanted?"

Pain washed over me, rendering me unable to speak or defend myself.

"Hey! Watch your tongue!" Vivian warned. I noticed Tobias gently stopping her.

Oliver seemed to ignore Vivian's warning and continued toward me. He then crouched down and reached out to take Fern from my arms. I would never allow that to happen.

"She's dead. Look, you don't need her to get back at anyone anymore. At least..." Oliver met my gaze with pain in his eyes, "At least let me take her away. She always wanted to leave this place."

Despite my inner turmoil and the countless protests within me, I slowly loosened my grip. It was the last thing I could do for her.
