Chapter 93
Chapter 93
Cherry
Now I was alone in the deep forest, scanning through the surroundings in concentration.
Just as I was running out of patience after hours-long search, Fern's faint voice ringed in my ears.
"Mommy...I want my mommy..." That was my pup! My wolf got excited and sprinted to the source of Fern's cries.
“Fern! Mommy's here for you!” My wolf and I roared as Fern's voice became clearer and clearer, until my feet stopped in front of a cabin.
In no time, I burst open the door, only to find Fern pinned down on a chair by Chelsea.
“Mommy!” Fern's eyes lit up at the sight of me.
"Cherry?!" Chelsea looked startled. Maybe she'd never thought I would be able to break through the barrier and make it here.
"Sit still! Or I'll kill you!" She then turned to hush Fern, tightening her grip on my pup's neck.
“M-Mommy...H-Help me!” Fern fought even harder. I could see that my daughter was having difficulty in breathing.
“Fern! Stop it, Chelsea!” My wolf snarled at Chelsea as my feet charged towards Chelsea.
But before I could make an inch forward, I found myself tripped up from behind.
Just as I was trying to figure out what was going on, Hugo had come over and knelt down, pricking my neck with a needle.
“W-What was that?!” I resisted and squawked, not expecting Hugo to be here too.
“Shh! You'll feel it soon.” He said with an evil smile.
“Mommy!!!” Fern resisted even harder, which only earned a sharp slap from Chelsea.
"I'm gonna take your life, Chelsea!" I gritted my teeth as my body went limp. I couldn't even lift up my arm or wiggle my toes.
“Dylan!” I mind linked my mate to come to my rescue.
"Cherry!" Dylan's wolf bristled into the cabin in no time, his eyes bulged after spotting me lying on the ground.
Hugo and Chelsea looked even more shocked. Knowing nothing about my special abilities, they didn't expect Dylan to recover so fast.
“Chelsea, you evil beast!” Dylan charged at her, howling in rage. He was way much stronger with me being around.
Obviously, Chelsea could tell that. She cowered, retreating step by step.
Just as Dylan was mind linking Bert over, she pushed Hugo to Dylan and escaped from the rear door.
"Damn it!" Dylan cursed while punching Hugo on the chin. He then ground Hugo beneath his heels and mind linked Jason to chase after Chelsea.
"What did you do to my mate?!" Dylan trampled on Hugo's chest even harder.
"Ahhhhh-" Hugo couldn't help but cry out. "You'll figure it out after she dies. Hahahahaha..."
"H-He pricked a needle on mommy's neck!" Fern had come over to me, speaking out bravely.
“Where is the antidote?!” Realizing that Hugo drugged me again, Dylan shouted in wrath.
"T-There's not...such a thing..." Hugo hissed with an evil grin.
“Stop fucking lying! Give me the antidote, or I'll wring your neck!” Dylan bent down towards Hugo's face, running out of patience.
“I-It's not like...any o-other...wolfsbane. I-It's...cursed by a white witch.” Hugo's eyes bulged as Dylan choked his neck.
"Then you're just a piece of useless shit!" Overwhelmed by extreme rage, Dyla was about to shift and tear Hugo into pieces.
"Wait!" Hugo shouted in fear. "S-She'll survive...as long as you keep feeding her with your blood."
Like a drowning man catching the last straw, Dylan let go of Hugo and rushed over to me.
"No!!!" I tried to stop Dylan as he rolled up his sleeve, but my paralyzed body couldn't move at all.
"Don't listen to him! He could be lying!!!" I was desperate to stop Dylan. His wolf could risk dying if he gave me his blood.
"You have no other choice, Dylan." Hugo smirked before fleeing.
"Howl..." I couldn't help but let out a painful cry as a burning sensation spread around my chest.
"Let's give it a try, mate." Dylan held me gently in his arms.
"Don't!" I cried out as Dylan slit his arm deeply and forced my mouth open.
I felt better as his blood dripped straight into my mouth. Tears flowed across my face as I stared into Dylan's eyes.
"You could die, Dylan." Grief overcame me.
"It's okay honey. I vowed to protect you and our family at our mating ceremony, but failed to keep my promise. It's time I make up for the hurt I caused you, mate." Wiping tears from my face gently, Dylan smiled. But his face was getting paler and paler.
"Dylan!" Bert stormed in as I was bandaging the cut on Dylan's arm. "You all right?"
After telling Bert what had happened back here, we decided to leave this place right away.
Just as we were about to get out of the cabin, a vial on the floor caught my attention.
"Stop it!" Bert shouted as I was about to pick the vial up. "It could be wolfsbane. Dylan and I found a same one in Chelsea's purse at Starsmoon's pack house."
"Was Chelsea using wolfsbane on Fern?!" I felt like I was losing my mind.
"Don't worry, Cherry. We'll get Fern tested back in Starsmoom."
Couldn't stand it for one more minute at the thought that Chelsea could use wolfsbane on my little girl, Dylan mind linked the pack doctor to wait for us in the pack house.
When we finally made it home, the doctor performed a complete check-up on Fern and me. He then left with Bert to do sample analysis in the lab.
Now it was just Dylan, Fern and me in the pack house.
"I couldn't afford to lose either one of you." Dylan kissed on my forehead after rocking Fern into sleep in his arms.
"How do you feel now?" I was still worried about the wound in his arm.
"Believe it or not, I feel nothing particular. Maybe Hugo was just lying so that he could get an opportunity to escape." Dylan smiled.
"That would be the best! It's ridiculous if I have to survive on an Alpha's blood. That makes me no different from a murderer." I felt so much relieved at Dylan's words.
"Cherry, take me back." Dylan changed into a serious tone.
"Huh?"
"I knew you had agreed to take me back as your mate back in Lune. But that's because Fern's at stake." Dylan paused a bit. "Deep inside, I hope you take me back because we're bonded, because our wolves need each oth..."
After finally twigging what he was talking about, I pressed a kiss on Dylan's lips to stop him from continuing .
"I already did, when you chose to save me at the risk of your life. Whether Hugo was lying or not, what you did means a lot. It speaks louder than any vow."
