The Barren Ex-Wife Gave Birth to Twins

Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Amelia paced the living room, her phone clutched tightly in her hand. She stared at the message on the laptop screen, the words taunting her. Finally, she dialed Ryan’s number, her fingers trembling as she pressed the buttons.

“Amelia?” Ryan’s voice came through, tense but steady.

“I need you to come over,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “It’s about Damien. It’s serious.”

Ryan arrived in record time, his expression darkening as she showed him the message. He leaned over the laptop, his jaw tightening as he read the words.

“Leave your dad alone, or you’ll regret it,” he muttered under his breath. His fists clenched. “Who sent this?”

“I don’t know,” Amelia admitted. “But it’s been affecting Damien. He’s not himself, Ryan. He’s scared, and he’s lashing out.”

Ryan stood, pacing the room like a caged animal. “No one messes with my kids,” he growled. He turned to Amelia, his eyes blazing. “I’m going to find out who’s behind this.”

“How?” Amelia asked, her voice tinged with both hope and skepticism.

“I know someone who can trace this,” Ryan said. He pulled out his phone, dialing a number. “If someone thinks they can threaten my son and get away with it, they’re dead wrong.”

As Ryan spoke with his contact, Amelia felt a twinge of doubt. She trusted Ryan’s determination, but his approach was all heat and instinct. She couldn’t help but think of James’s calm logic.

That afternoon, she confided in James, her voice low as she explained the situation.

“Damien’s been getting threatening messages,” she said. “I don’t know who’s behind it, but it’s affecting him. Ryan’s trying to track the sender, but I don’t know if that’s enough.”

James’s expression turned serious. “Have you told the school? Or the police?”

“Not yet,” Amelia admitted. “Ryan thinks he can handle it.”

James nodded slowly, his tone gentle but firm. “Ryan’s instinct to protect Damien is good. But this is bigger than one person. If someone’s targeting your family, you need to involve the proper authorities.”

Amelia sighed, her shoulders slumping. “I just want this to stop. Damien’s been through so much already.”

James reached out, his hand brushing hers briefly. “You’re doing everything you can, Amelia. But don’t carry this alone. Let the school help. Let the police help.”

That evening, Amelia found herself caught between two approaches. Ryan’s fierce protectiveness gave her a sense of security, but James’s pragmatic advice resonated deeply.

As Damien came home from school, his backpack slung over one shoulder, Amelia knelt in front of him, her voice soft. “Hey, sweetheart. Can we talk for a minute?”

Damien hesitated but nodded.

She led him to the couch, her heart aching as she saw the tension in his small shoulders. “I know you’ve been feeling upset lately,” she began. “And I think I know why.”

His eyes darted to the floor, guilt and fear warring on his face.

“You’re not in trouble,” Amelia said quickly. “But I need you to tell me if someone’s been bothering you—online or at school.”

Damien’s lip quivered, and he nodded slowly. “It’s online,” he whispered. “They keep saying mean things… about Dad. And about me.”

Amelia pulled him into a hug, her heart breaking for her son. “We’re going to make it stop,” she promised. “I won’t let anyone hurt you, Damien.”

From across the room, Ryan stood silently, his jaw set as he watched the scene unfold. His resolve deepened—no matter what it took, he would protect his son.
