　　While Derek and the others were having fun, Rose called the home telephone in Derek's villa, and the butler, Charlie, answered it.

　　Rose learned from Charlie that Derek took his two children out for fun.

　　These days, Rose had been worried that Emily would do something to her. Moreover, Emily was strict in overseeing every aspect of the company, and Rose couldn't find an opportunity to take action.

　　If Emily completed the project smoothly, her ability would be recognized by the shareholders, which was a great threat to Rose.

　　So, Rose had been trying to get in touch with Derek, hoping to get his support, but she was unlucky every time she called Derek.

　　She had no choice but to ask Charlie to pass on the message to Derek that she wanted to invite him to dinner tomorrow night.

　　When Derek returned home, he first settled Ian and Aaron.

　　After they washed up and fell asleep, he went back to his study to work.

　　Charlie conveyed Rose's message to Derek.

　　"I got it. Tell her I don't have time," Derek rubbed his forehead.

　　As Charlie turned to leave, Derek called out to him.

　　"Wait a moment. I agree."

　　Charlie told Rose Derek's decision. Rose was a bit surprised at first, but then became happy. Since Derek accepted her invitation, it meant that Derek still cared for her.

　　She prepared meticulously for having dinner with Derek.

　　As Rose arrived at the restaurant, she happened to meet Derek at the doorway, and she quickly walked toward him.

　　However, Derek walked alone into the restaurant.

　　Rose's joy was cooled by Derek's attitude.

　　The restaurant was quiet, and the screens between tables ensured both spaciousness and privacy of it.

　　Rose looked at Derek in front of her. Although there was no expression on his face, she could still tell his bad mood as she had been with him for so long.

　　Rose wanted to be a tolerant woman, so she tried hard to ignore Derek's ungentlemanly behavior toward her just now.

　　She smiled and searched for a topic. "Have you been busy lately?"

　　Derek responded with a single word, and his gaze remained fixed on the menu, not even looking at Rose.

　　Rose's face stiffened as she continued, "The other day, you took Aaron and Ian out. Why didn't you tell me? I could have gone with them too, and it would have been a good opportunity to improve my relationship with them."

　　At that moment, Rose appeared as a competent mother, and she wore a painful and sad expression due to her children's alienation.

　　Derek could no longer stand Rose's pretentious look, so he randomly selected a few dishes and called the waiter without paying attention to Rose.

　　"I want these."

　　"Yes, sir."

　　Rose didn't speak again until the waiter left. "I've been busy, but now I've got some free time. I can accompany Aaron and Ian to go out and have fun."

　　"Adolf and Emma have returned from their trip, and they miss Aaron and Ian very much," Derek rejected Rose.

　　"Adolf and Emma love Aaron and Ian very much, but I am their mother. We can accompany them together."

　　"Rose, I think you should know time is precious."

　　Derek meant that he was not here for small talk.

　　In the past, Derek felt guilty toward Rose because of Aaron and Ian. So, even though he didn't love her, he had planned to marry her.

　　Now, he no longer thought so, yet he did plan to sacrifice himself so that his children could have a complete family.

　　In addition, he met someone he wanted to marry. He liked her, and so did Aaron and Ian. Thus, he didn't want to make sacrifices anymore.

　　Also, Derek had a lot of things to confirm.

　　If anyone dared to deceive him, the person should be prepared to face his wrath.

　　Derek narrowed his eyes.

　　Rose was interrupted.

　　She tried to please Derek several times but didn't get any response.

　　She felt uneasy watching Derek's expression and forced a smile as she said, "What's wrong? You look so serious. We're here to enjoy our meal."

　　He tapped the table lightly with his fingers, and Rose's attention was immediately drawn to him.

　　"I wanted to know where you gave birth to Aaron and Ian."

　　Rose stopped her breath for a moment and kept thinking about how to respond.

　　She tried to stay cool, so he wouldn't get suspicious.

　　"At that time, I was staying at Laura's friend's house, and Aaron and Ian were born in a nearby hospital. The incident that night was hurtful to me, so I wanted to stay at a place where no one knew me."

　　"Address." Derek was indifferent to Rose's pain.

　　Rose's face turned pale, and she had to fake an address.

　　She looked up at Derek, only to find that he was looking behind her.

　　She also turned to look behind her and saw Emily, Louise, and Carlos coming in together, chatting and laughing.

　　Rose's gaze was straightforward, and Emily noticed it immediately.

　　Emily saw Derek being with Rose.

　　She swept across Rose, and without pausing, she looked at Derek. Neither of them spoke.

　　Emily didn't even pause and followed the waiter to the table she had reserved.

　　Rose turned around quickly and looked at Derek. Although Emily and Derek didn't say hello to each other, Rose felt that there was something unusual between them.

　　The most obvious thing was that Derek was in a worse mood.

　　Derek glanced at Rose and said expressionlessly,

　　"Why did you tell me only after giving birth to Aaron and Ian?"

　　"At first, I didn't know that the man that night was you. I didn't want my children to get hurt, so I hid. I was quite confused at that time, and I found out that Aaron and Ian were your children later."

　　Rose's voice trembled as if her memory still had an impact on her.

　　"Rose," Derek called Rose's name seriously after she finished her words.

　　"You didn't deceive me, did you?"

　　Rose keenly sensed a shift in Derek's tone from before.

　　She was worried that he had found out something.

　　"I was young back then and had never experienced those things. I have explained everything to you. Don't you believe me? I know you blame me for not caring enough about Aaron and Ian, but as a mother, it hurts a lot that my children don't like me. It's hard for me that they didn't grow up with me. I understand them. But I still feel sad."

　　Rose began to cry as she spoke, and people who didn't know the inside story would surely feel sympathy for her.

　　Derek handed her a tissue and said, "Stop crying.

　　The dishes will be served soon. It's time to eat."

　　The topic finally ended, and Rose felt relieved. She thought she had to tell Laura about Derek's attitude quickly.

　　When Derek was handing the tissue to Rose, Carlos turned to look at them and let out a mocking laugh.

　　Derek looked up at Carlos, and they met each other's eyes.

　　"Why are you laughing?" Emily asked.

　　"It's nothing. I just thought of something funny," Carlos said, turning his body to block Emily's sight.

　　Then, he asked Louise about Emily's past. When he met Emily, she had been as calm and mature as she was now.

　　Carlos wanted to know what Emily was like before from her friend.

　　Coincidentally, Louise was also concerned about how Emily had been doing in the past few years. However, every time she asked, Emily brushed it off.

　　Carlos and Louise soon started talking and condemned Emily's perfunctory answer to them together.

　　They enjoyed the meal very much, while Derek and Rose were absent-minded.
