Chapter 41. FEELING AWKWARD

SOPHIA CASTILLO

I was very nervous. I barely came to an event like this. It was Sarah who went with my father when necessary most times.

The driver announced some seconds ago to me that we have arrived at our destination but I was too nervous to get down of the car.

Gently, I opened the car door and stepped out of the car with my heart beating fast in my chest.

Just as I came out of the car, the paparazzi began to flash the lights of their camera at me making me nervous. I began to make my way to the entrance and stepped on my dress and lost my balance but thankfully I was caught by someone.

"Take it easy Sophia, imagine I had not arrived on time. I wonder what would have happened to you?" It was Adrian who had caught me just before I fell.

"Thanks so much," I exhaled deeply as I stood back on my feet.

"There you go," he said flashing me his pearly white teeth and I felt my heart skip. He looked effortlessly handsome.

I wanted to run my finger through his hair. He took his hands that were on my waist and kept them to himself.

"You look very beautiful," he complimented me and I blushed.

"Thank you," I muttered softly.

"Shall we?" Adrian said, placing his hand at the small of my waist and leading me inside.

"When did you arrive?" I asked, trying to start a conversation with him.

I didn't want it to be awkward between us anymore and I have decided I would try to communicate more and loosen up.

"I arrived before you though. I was waiting for you," he answered and I nodded my head.

We stepped our feet into the well-decorated gall with a beautiful setting and a lot of prominent people dressed in the theme color of the event.

"Just stay close beside me," Adrian whispered in my ears and I nodded my head.

"Adrian Castillo."

Adrian and I both turned our heads in the direction someone had called his name.

"Hello Mr. Hudson," Adrian replied, pulling me closer to him.

"You must be the wife. Pleasure meeting you Mrs. Castillo. I am Jerry Hudson," the olive-skinned man introduced himself.

He stood at the same height as Adrian but was chubby and has long curly hair.

"Nice meeting you," I replied politely. I wanted to take his stretched hands but Adrian intertwine my finger with him refusing that I did.

The man noticed as his eyes darted to Adrian and my intertwined fingers.

"Oh, I see. It's no problem, how have you been Mr. Castillo?" Jerry Hudson asked.

"I have been fine Mr. Hudson," Adrian replied.

Just then two couples came to use.

"Adrian." One of the males that approached us called.

"Andrew," Adrian called back and they both shook hands.

"It is nice meeting you Mrs. Castillo," Andrew said to me and I smiled at him in return.

"Meet my girlfriend Rose," Andrew introduced.

Adrian simply nodded his head at her while I politely greeted her. "Hi."

"Hi," she replied.

"My name is Rose and yours?" She asked me.

"Sophia," I replied.

"Why don't we ladies go somewhere and talk while we leave the men to handle their business?" The second lady said.

I didn't even know her or his name and she was yet to introduce herself.

"That's right. We men have a lot to talk about," The other man spoke.

"I didn't even introduce myself. My name is Gloria, I am their fiancee of Steven," she introduced herself.

"I'm Rose and she's Sophia," Rose introduced herself h and bed behalf.

"Nice to meet the both of you. Sophia, you seem young though. How old are you?" Gloria asked.

"I'm twenty years old," I replied, starting to feel uncomfortable as I hated being with people I wasn't familiar with and this is my first time attending an event like this.

It wasn't that expected to be at Adrian's side all the time but I want expecting that I would leave him. I quickly glance over at where Adrian was and he seemed to be looking at me too.

"Wow. That's quite young. How did you get the mighty Adrian to get married to you? I mean from what we've heard about him, it was hard for any lady to seduce him or get his attention unless it was for a business meeting," Rose intervened.

"Exactly what I heard. It's hard to even meet him so how did you do it, girl. To tame someone like Adrian and have him marry you that fast, I must come to take lessons," Gloria said and I smile weakly at her.

"Well there is no teaching to be taught," I told them but they didn't seem to believe as they shared a knowing look amongst themselves.

"I see," Gloria nodded her head.

"He keeps looking over here. He can't stand having you away from him, can he?" Rose chuckled and I looked over at where he was to find out that he was indeed looking at me.

I suddenly felt conscious as I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.

"How old are you?" Gloria asked Rose.

"I am twenty-seven," Rose replied. "And you?_ rose asked Gloria.

"I'm twenty-nine," Gloria replied.

They were both much older than me and even my older sister Sarah. I just get completely different from them. I watched as they spoke back and forth and laughed while all I wanted to do was leave and go sit somewhere else.

I felt a hand snake around my waist and I startle in shock but let my guards down when I realized that it was Adrian.

"I see you girls have known each other well enough. So I will have to take her with me," he said and I mentally thanked my stars because I was tired of talking to them already.

"Shall we baby?" He said and I felt shivers run down my spine from the endearment he used on me.
