Rachel p.o.v

I didn't like this pack, not at all, I had to keep it to myself for the first couple of days. I was trying to find a redeeming quality but had decided to discuss it with Gabriel .

" Gabriel?" I ask through the link.

" What up sweetheart ?" I smile at his voice in my head .

" This pack is so awful ". I say firmly and I think I have shocked him a little .

"Why?" Did they do something to you? Did someone hurt you? He asked worriedly.

" No, but this is basically a military compound , every moment of the day is already scheduled ,they barely have any free time , they train like warriors. They don't even have a separate pack house for kids, it is terrible. I complained and I can feel Gabriel worrying about me through the bond.

" You don't have to stay there sweetheart , I will try to see if the next pack can take you in , in a few days early or you could come home for a few days , whatever you wish to do. He offers sweetly and my heart aches at the idea of going home , but I don't think I could force myself to leave again.

As much as I want to go home, u feel like I have gained some really good insight by visiting other packs. Can you see if they will take us in a few days early? I asked and I could feel his disappointment .

" Sure thing, you want to stay longer then or still just a week?"

' Just a week,' I responded quickly and he chuckled.

" Anxious to come back to me?" He teases and I giggle .

" Maybe, I have missed you, Gabriel". I say sadly and he sighs.

" I have missed you too sweetheart "

" Really?" I asked playfully, making him chuckle.

" Yes, I had to beg your mom to let me borrow your pillow , as pathetic as it sounds. Your scent is the only thing that helps me sleep". He admits and I can't help but laugh, I will call the Alpha right now to get you out of there. He says.

"Thank you"

"Anything for you". He responded before I felt the link break.

It didn't take long before he let me know that the next pack was fine with me going there early. He had also called the Alpha if the pack we were staying to tell him that he needed Ethan back so we were leaving early. I was glad I didn't have to come up with a reason because " your pack is a hell hole" probably isn't something I should say to an Alpha.

We were loaded up and on the road within half an hour and after I forced Ethan to stop at the giant bookstore and took my sweet time browsing and all the while mind linking Gabriel to tell him how excited about a few books I thought he did like. He didn't seem thrilled about reading, but he seemed to be understanding me more as a mate. We made more progress apart than we probably ever could have together.

We reach the next pack, and as soon as we hit the border, we could sense unease, there was a large number of patrol wolves around the borders and even more standing around the pack house where the Alpha waited for us, we slowly exit the vehicle and approach him, both baring our neck in submission.

" Everything is ok, Alpha?" Ethan asks, taking a protective stance in front of me.

" Yes, just some issues with another pack, the nextdoor Alpha is a little high strung , we have increased patrols but nothing to worry about". He goes over the rules for the pack like every other Alphas does with visitors before we are shown our rooms.

I felt uneasy the whole time , every little sound making me jump, I walked next door to Ethan's room and knocked on his door. He opens it and I see he had two twin size beds instead of my one queen size and I breathe a sigh of relief.

" Can I sleep in here with you?" This place is creeping me out. He nods and grabs my arm, snatching me into the room and swiftly locking the door behind me.

I don't like it, Rachel. I don't think the Alpha is being honest with us. I think the problem is much bigger than he told us but he didn't want to concern his pack. Ethan says, pulling back the curtain from the window an inch so he could look outside . I feel my nerves begin to fray and soon Gabriel noticed it

" What's wrong, Rachel?" He asks and I sigh.

" Nothing, just weird vibes . This pack seems on alert ". I say and Gabriel growls a little.

The Alpha didn't say anything when I talked to him earlier, are you in any kind of danger? If you are, get in the car and leave right now ". He says and I'm seriously tempted.

" No, there is nothing happening ". The patrol wolves just seem anxious , it puts Ethan on the edge and that puts me on the edge too. I explained and Gabriel huffed an annoyed breath and cut off the link. I looked at Ethan and saw his eyes gaze over and must be mind linking Gabriel . He nods at the end before I feel Gabriel back in my mind.
