Chapter 109 **
Chapter 109 **
Maya
I splash cold water up at my face, meeting my angry, determined eyes in the mirror. It's soon time to face my fate.
Lily has plagued me with her nasty words from the first day in high school. She looked down upon me and laughed at me for not having an inner wolf. Even though we are sisters, she spat in my face and bullied me until I saw no other option than escape from my hometown.
I left my old town behind. I abandoned my pack. I cut off the ties I had with my family, and now, I'm taking it all back.
I'm angry, pissed off because Lily thinks she can do whatever the fuck she wants without consequences.
But she is wrong.
She killed Elijah's mate. She hurt our father, kidnapped Bianca, and I will make her pay.
'We will make her pay,' Lumi corrects me. 'Remember that I want in on this too. We will take our rightful place as the alpha of the Winterbite clan, and then NO ONE will laugh at us again.'
'I will become the alpha.'
'Yes, and light will chase away the darkness, and the pack will change—we will make serious changes.'
My smile broadens. 'Every werewolf and person will be accepted for who they are, and those who disagree, well, let's say they will be without a pack in a breath of a moment.'
Lumi laughs. 'Amen, sister.'
'And while I'm feeling confident, I should just get on with it and finish the mating ritual with Finn.'
Lumi inhales. 'How much of that bottle of whiskey did you down?'
I hiccup. 'Enough to not be nervous about tomorrow. the idea of murdering my sister scared me at first, but now I'm fine with it, you know?'
'Good Lord, that's the booze talking. You can't kill your sister—get your shit together, Maya! We will only lock her up in a basement forever until she WISHES she were dead, you hear me?'
"Yes, mother...' I roll my eyes. Lumi is such a killjoy.
'Great,' My inner wolf exhales. 'Now, head straight to bed and try to avoid running into Finn—'
"Why are you laughing in there?" Finn asks from the hallway. I hear him approaching, and he appears in the doorway. His eyes narrow, smile on his handsome face. "You scared me by sounding like a freaking villain—who are you—Jafar?"
I snort laughter and turn around to face him. He is gorgeous, and I place my hand on his chest, wishing the fabric of his shirt would melt by the sheer will of my mind.
Damn, I want to go down and suck his cock.
Lumi rolls her eyes inside my head. 'Go.To.Bed.'
I hiss at her. 'Never.'
I make eye contact with Finn and feel a tingle spread from my toes up to the rest of my body. "No, but I'm plotting with Lumi..."
His eyes peer down into my face. "Plotting?"
"Uh-huh," I smile brightly. "We are going to take down Lily and build our kingdom with hookers and blackjack. We will accept every odd fellow out there, and we won't discriminate."
"Sounds good but," Finn swallows visibly. "Should I be worried? You were laughing inside the toilet for an hour straight," he places his cold hand over my forehead, which makes me shiver. "Nope, not a fever."
"I'm not sick—" I hiccup and Finn sighs heavily.
"When I told you to not worry about tomorrow and find something which will calm you down, I didn't mean for you to take to the bottle."
I don't listen to him, but his lips are so pretty when they are moving that I'm standing there, smiling at him. I like him a lot, and when he lifts an eyebrow and laughs as I sway from side to side, I suffer butterflies.
"You need to rest," his hands move to my waist, and then I'm lifted from the ground by his gentle arms. He hands me a tired, teasing smile. "It seems the princess doesn't handle alcohol well."
His eyes are so pretty, and I want to lick the dimples on his face. I'm so warm and tingly around him it's unfair. "I want to have your babies."
Finn freezes. For a moment, he appears shocked, but then the corners of his lips lift into a smile. "I would pay a good amount of money to hear you say those words while you're sober."
I grimace. "Sober Maya ain't any fun..."
"Is that right?"
He is walking for my bed with me wrapped up in his arms. White hair falls into his blue eyes, and I brush it away to see his pretty lashes again. Finn smiles, and I smile back.
We share a moment, but then the man flicks away his eyes and laughs in amusement.
"You're so drunk right now..."
The logical part of my brain agrees with him. I am drunk. But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Right now, I'm not afraid to take advantage and tell him secrets.
"Finn?"
"Mmm?"
"I love you."
My words gain his attention, but I'm not done yet.
"When you didn't come back for me, you broke my heart, and then, when you came back, happiness surged through me, but I didn't dare to act upon my emotions."
His eyes have grown intense, and his voice comes out in a breathy, pained whisper. "Why?"
I smile sadly. "Because I was afraid you would leave again, and then there is this age thing—"
He kisses me. Hard. Reason and logic and the ability to breathe fly out through the window, and when he leans back, I stare into his face. His eyes are severe, sullen, and irritated.
"Will you stop talking about age?!" He raises his voice in annoyance while still not looking away from my eyes. I can't look away from him either, too caught up in him finally pouring his heart out. "Do you think it doesn't bother me that I don't age as you do? Because then you're wrong—I hate the thought of looking this young while you turn more mature and refined—what if your taste changes? What if you get bored of me?"
"I wouldn't get—"
"And how the hell do you know that?!" Finn snaps. "It's frustrating how self-absorbed you can be at times. The age thing gnaws at my self-confidence, too, because while I know in my heart and soul that I won't care about you aging, I'm not sure if the same thing can be said about you, and do you know what scares me the most?"
My breath is barely above a whisper. "What?"
His lips form a smile, but tears are rolling down his face. The expression he is wearing is heartbreaking, and when his lips part, his voice comes out shattered.
"Outliving you and winding up alone—that possibility eats me up at night and frightens me to the point I'm afraid of waking up next to you in the morning sometimes. Humans are fragile compared to us fairies, and what if you won't be breathing one day? What if I wake up and find your lifeless body next to mine?"
