Just a Surrogate

Nikolas has been avoiding me lately and I don't like it one bit, he goes out early and comes back when I am asleep, I miss him.

Maybe I should go to his office to see him today and invite him for lunch, I wear a dress today with some flat boots, I like how big my bump is getting, it’s only three months now. I go outside and get in the car

I drive and turn on some jazz music on my way there and the buildings, Nikolas took me to his office so I know where it is.

This town has a very nice building indeed, it's so big and Nikolas is managing it, he is the alpha, people respect and fear him but I don't have any fear I feel safer.

I remember how he fed me when I refused to eat and watched stranger things with me despite not liking the show but who doesn’t? only him.

Could it be that he has developed feelings for me too, gosh he even flushes after I throw up because of the morning sickness despite my protest

Flashback

“I’ve been feeling sick all morning,” Nikolas stands by the door frame, I look like hell sitting on the bed with my messy hair and still in my pajamas, I’m probably a mess, I have been in bed the whole morning throwing up and feeling sick, I hate looking like this.

“ You have work?” he nods looking at me with a frown, suddenly the urge to throw up comes back stronger. I run to the bathroom, getting on my knees and emptying all my content in the toilet, Nikolas holds my hair up as I do that, I get up going to wash my face as Nikolas flushes.

“Should I send your food here,” I shake my head, I want to eat popcorn today and I want Nikolas close to me.

“ Can you please stay with me today?” I ask he looks surprised but nods, I am so needy lately. When I get ready, I find Nikolas waiting for me in the screening room at the house, with a lot of popcorn, I widen my eyes going to hug him, and he chuckles. I sit next to him and stranger things start to play, it’s nice resting my head on his shoulder.

Nikolas kept on texting and receiving calls since he didn’t go to work.

So lost in my train of thoughts, I didn't know that the light was green until other cars horned. I take a left turn When I reach the tall building and go to the parking lot, I enter the building with no problem because the employees here are from the pack.

I use Nik's private elevator to the top floor ignoring the employees' glances when I used it, I can tell they want to ask me why but they don't.

" Hey," Justin comes to me, surprised that I'm here. " What are doing here?"

" Well I came to see your Alpha, maybe he might want to go for ... Lunch?" I fidget. blushing a little. I feel so stupid.

But Justin comes to me with a smile holding my shoulders.

" I think he'll like that," he says, leading me to his office. The walls are all white and nicely tiled, Justin stops to take a call.

" You like her, you've changed," a voice speaks, it's that woman, Piper, her voice is almost mocking, I don't see that woman very much but when I do she is always polite and smiles lightly at me, I watch them from here through the half-open door, Nikolas is across me. I want to leave this as a private conversation but who is she talking about? Nik keeps shaking his head and then looks up.

" I want her safe," he says standing from his seat.

" No you are attracted to her, you lust for that human, I might even go as far as to say you love her," she smiles handing him a glass of something, he drinks and makes a sour face then looks back to her, touching her waist, she sighs and kisses his lips.

" No, I want her safe, Piper," he repeats

" You call her pet names, love, sweetheart, " She teases, Nikolas sighs again, holding his head.

" She's carrying my child," he says, abruptly grabbing her by the waist and kissing her deeply.

" Are you sure?"

" She's just a surrogate, now, do you want to keep talking about her? right now?" he asks while leaving kisses on her neck. She moans, shaking her head.

" No, I want you, right now," she whispers. I feel tears brimming my eyes, I want to leave but I can't stop watching them. They are making out hungrily and passionately on his desk, throwing the papers that were there, she takes off his tie and unbuttons his shirt. Something hot run down my face, I touch it and it's my tears.

I turn to walk away but bump into a young lady with a lot of files in her hands, next to us, Justin is looking at me.

The falling of the files must have made noise, making the couple who were steamily making out stop, they both look at me and when Nik's eyes meet mine, his eyes widen a little, clearly not expecting me. He slowly gets off her. I turn to the woman I pumped into to apologize.

" Sorry," I rush out of there, feeling so stupid, why I'm I even crying? I was just a surrogate, nothing more!

" Ava!" I hear Nik call but Ignore him, getting in the elevator.

When I reach the parking lot I let out a breath and sit down on the cold floor, leaning against my car. I bury my head in my hands. I thought he could love me, he was very sweet and nice, I mistook that, clearly I'm just the girl carrying his child, just a surrogate.

A hand touches my shoulder and I look up to find Jeremy. The younger brother looks a little upset, he has a frown, his blonde dreadlocks are a mess, and his shirt is unbuttoned

" Brother asked me to make sure you're alright and take you home," he says giving me his hand. I ignore it, getting up on my own.

" Yes, we wouldn't want anything bad happening to the baby," he opens the passenger door for me and asks for the keys. But I shake my head. The young one just sighs, looking up.

" I drove here, I surely know my way back," I sneer, entering the driver's seat and leaving him dumbfounded. I keep driving, now entering the main tarmac, I gasp when I see Jeremy dangling and looking through the window. I slow down the car as he gets in through the window.

We drive in silence, and after minutes he speaks.

" Turn," he instructs, I look at him but oblige. He keeps quiet as we drive straight on a new tarmac

" Stop," he gets out of the car and I follow slowly, a view of beautiful waterfalls with nice rocks under them welcomes me, the nice grass above it looks so soft and I can see a rainbow beyond it, I smile running closer, and the sunset just makes it perfect, it's the most amazing thing I've seen.

" It's beautiful!" I cry, wiping my tears. This is one of the best wonders of nature.

" We came here all the time as kids, we would even do family picnics," he says with a smile, looking over the water. I don't know what is wrong with Jer lately, but he has been spacing out and ignoring Aurora. I want to ask him what happened when the King's people caught that woman Stephanie. They found out that a criminal organization called the base was the one that attacked the Wulfric at the beach house, it's Aurora they wanted to get, but luckily, Silas, Aurora's vampire guardian came in time to save the princess and Jeremy, but unfortunately, their parents died. Nikolas once mentioned that the woman is a manipulator, and the same group was the one who kidnapped Aurora and used her for power before king Xavier found her.

We stay at the waterfalls for a long time enjoying the view, and I can tell Jeremy is still in deep thoughts, but a one-sided smile graces his lips.

his phone rings and he answers. He comes back looking panicked, before I can ask what's wrong, he grabs my wrist, takes me to the car, and start driving very fast.

" Jeremy, what is wrong?"

" This is bad, bad," he keeps repeating, his eyes are now a dark shade of green and I was told that when it's like that, they are mind linking, talking to someone. He growls lowly, eyes going dark, I move away a bit. What happened?
