Chapter 402 Doomsday's Bondage Play

"Flash, Superman, be ready to rescue." Batman subconsciously issued the order; he was used to it, bearing the pressure of making decisions and the pain of failure.

He was used to it.

Wonder Woman sighed; she had given up all hope for this stubborn man.

Diana would never know that after walking out of that alley, Bruce Wayne never grew up again; he was buried deep within Batman's heart.

"Okay!" The Flash responded to Batman's instructions with a serious expression. Then, with a thud, his figure blurred, and a lot of snacks and takeout boxes appeared inexplicably in his hands. These junk foods were piled on the table.

"Barry?"

In response to Batman's question, Barry chuckled and said, "It's fine, let's eat and watch."

Good food can always soothe the soul and allow people to temporarily set aside their conflicts. At least for this moment, Hal and Diana finally sat down.

However, apart from Barry and Cyborg, no one touched these snacks.

Constantine and Zatanna also came over. Zatanna was curious about why Rune was able to influence the magical world, and perhaps she could find some clues from his spellcasting methods.

Constantine, on the other hand, simply wanted to reconcile with Zatanna.

Zatana is absolutely amazing!

The sky over Metropolis seemed particularly gloomy because of the appearance of Doomsday. The towering Lex Building was now mostly collapsed, and terrified screams could be heard from all around.

As soon as Rune arrived, he saw Doomsday. He was standing atop a mountain of tank wreckage, letting out a tremendous roar.

For Doomsday, a tank wouldn't be much sturdier than a soda can.

However, near Doomsday, there were some strange creatures. Rune turned his head and saw a familiar figure.

Harley Quinn was surrounded by several people: a Death Shooter in a red and white uniform, a witch with powerful magical abilities like Rune, and a Boomerang Captain in blue—but the leader was just an ordinary person.

It's the Suicide Squad.

Rune wanted to roll his eyes. Amanda was really fearless. Doomsday had appeared and she still dared to come and join the fun. He could probably imagine that the mission of this group of team members was mostly to obtain some of Doomsday's body tissue.

However, thinking back on what the US government had done before, Rune felt that those high-ranking incompetent officials had at least made some progress, and didn't seem to be ready to drop a nuclear bomb at the drop of a hat.

In American comics, when the US government encounters a problem it can't solve, it always chooses to drop a nuclear bomb, as if nuclear bombs were some kind of magic wish-granting machine. This is true for DC, and even more so for Marvel.

But Doomsday didn't care about Rune's thoughts; all he knew was that he had found another small, moving thing. A desire to crush something welled up inside him.

Doomsday instantly unleashed terrifying speed, its fist aimed straight at Rune's head.

The shockwave generated by this speed also overturned the surrounding debris, blowing concrete fragments and car wreckage into the air.

Ordinary mages are indeed unable to react to Doomsday's attacks, and Rune admitted that Zatanna alone could not seal Doomsday.

As a precaution, Rune used his most powerful defensive spell.

Without incantations or gestures, Rune cast the Seraphim Shield with a single hand. A black and red, layered magic circle instantly unfolded, and Doomsday's attack landed on the magic circle without even causing a ripple.

It was much weaker than I had imagined.

Rune thought so, but the heroes far away in the Hall of Justice were surprised.

Superman, in particular, is someone who has fought Doomsday head-on, so he naturally knows just how heavy that punch is.

Doomsday's bone spikes are incredibly powerful weapons, capable of easily piercing through his own steel body.

"Is it too late for me to learn magic now?" Superman asked Zatanna, who was standing to the side. He was obviously joking, but Zatanna shook her head at him seriously.

"You are not qualified, and to cast spells like his, an ordinary mage would need at least decades of arduous training—"

As Zatanna answered, she carefully examined the runes on the paper, and took out a notebook, making notes.

The battle on Rune's side continued. Doomsday became annoyed after his initial attack failed. He didn't understand why this black and red thing was so sturdy, so he started punching it again and again, each punch harder than the last.

While maintaining his magic, Rune pondered how he could defeat Doomsday.

He knew that every ability he displayed, even every expression, would be recorded by Batman. Bruce was that kind of person. Rune even suspected that Bruce had planted a tracking device on him.

Even though the floating cloak that had transformed into clothing had already helped him get rid of a lot of electronic devices.

Therefore, choosing the method to defeat Doomsday is crucial, and melee combat is immediately ruled out by Rune. That would be too dangerous, and facing an enemy of Doomsday's caliber would easily test the limits of one's physical strength.

If possible, Rune hopes to maintain the "glass cannon" persona in front of the Justice League and others, a persona that is easy for Batman to control.

Unfortunately, Barry's impulsiveness forced Rune to reveal a portion of his physical strength.

After careful consideration, Rune decided to use magic to defeat Doomsday and obtain its flesh and blood.

Just as Rune was deciding how to defeat Doomsday, a hoarse voice rang in his ear.

"If possible, please deal with Doomsday as soon as possible; his attacks have already threatened the continental shelf."

Sure enough, I have something of Batman on me, but—why don't I find it strange?

Rune retorted calmly, "Is this how the Justice League treats its guests?"

"No, this is a necessary precaution; you might consider it a gift," Batman said in a low voice, already used to being choked up. The other heroes behind him covered their faces.

"Alright." Rune didn't delve into it. He took out a red ribbon from his pocket. It looked incredibly beautiful, but as magic was injected into it, scarlet runes began to appear.

He threw out the ribbon, which instantly bound Doomsday, who was about to continue its attack, and then began to extend indefinitely, binding Doomsday completely.

Yes, Doomsday was indeed a top-tier warrior, but he was helpless when faced with magic, especially when bound by a powerful evil god.

This is why Rune's dislike of DC magic falls under the purview of the magic side.

Doomsday's biggest fear is being banished or sealed, something mages are clearly better at, right? Why didn't anyone ask a mage for help back then, instead of letting Superman, a warrior, whittle down its health?
