Chapter 376 The New God Ascends the Throne

Watching Rune walk down the pit wall, Superpower struggled to move backward, his two still-functioning legs pushing against the ground as he tried to get away from the man who was closing in.

He wanted to shout angrily: Power is everything! With power, you can have everything! Domination! Destruction! This is the truth of the universe!

But Rune's earlier words made him swallow those words. This boy wasn't one of those heroes he had killed in the past, but rather something else entirely—

"I'm not a good person, and I'm certainly not a superhero." Rune stared coldly at Superman. "I've always believed in an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. So, when I encounter superheroes, I'll do everything I can to help them—"

"And when I encounter villains, like you, I'm sorry, but you can only die."

"No!" Superb screamed, his fear overwhelming him. The Kryptonian endured the pain and slammed his remaining, relatively intact hand against the ground in a last-ditch effort, but he failed.

However, there was still some energy gathering in his eyes, and then two slightly dim, hot gazes shot straight towards Rune.

Rune didn't even dodge. Whether it was the Superpower's furious attack before or the now visibly weak heat vision, in his beastly senses, they were all harmless.

"So weak!"

He opened his palms.

When those two beams of heat, powerful enough to melt steel, struck Rune's palm, they scattered like a stream hitting a boulder. The scattered beams of heat created several hissing craters in the ground, but they couldn't even make his palm move.

Superb had never felt this emotion before—was it something like despair?

After watching his final, all-out attack being easily neutralized by Rune, he finally understood just how vast the difference in power between the two was.

Superb suddenly wanted to laugh out loud.

That damned guy, he managed to push me to this point with just his physical strength, and he still seems to have the energy left, yet he still insists on attacking me with magic.

All of Superpower's arrogance and cruelty were shattered at this moment, leaving only helplessness.

Rune clenched his fist, which was empty, but Superb knew that this was probably the opponent's last punch, so he spoke up and asked his question.

"Hey, why did you attack me with magic in the first place instead of physically?"

Rune laughed.

"Of course, it's so that you fools who mistakenly believe all mages are physically weak will feel despair when you get close to me!"

"So this space is also—"

"Yes." Rune nodded with a smile. "It's just so your accomplices won't see that my physical strength is just as formidable. Don't worry, you won't be alone on this journey; other members of the crime syndicate will be joining you soon."

"All right----"

The next moment, the fist fell and slammed solidly into Superman's face. Several of Superman's teeth, mixed with blood and saliva, sprayed out, his cheekbone shattered instantly, and even his entire face caved in.

With a single strike, Rune knocked a powerful Kryptonian unconscious. The Kryptonian's body was smashed into the ground like a rag doll, completely losing its ability to resist.

He lay there, motionless, only his faint breathing a testament to the Kryptonian's tenacity. Blood continued to flow from his broken mouth and nose, spreading a small, shocking crimson patch across the ground.

Rune didn't let the Kryptonian suffer any longer; he quickly severed his head—though he didn't actually like doing so, but without the head, Rune would find it difficult to intimidate the world in a short time.

As for the body—

Rune poured a massive amount of dark magic into it, and the Devouring Magic was activated instantly.

Originally, this spell required the user to merge with the soul of the slain creature. This is one of the reasons why the Black Strange's soul became so ugly. It was no longer the soul of a normal human, but a twisted creature formed by the fusion of hundreds or thousands of fragments of the souls of evil gods.

However, Rune simplified this spell, taking only flesh and blood without touching the soul.

After all, in every universe, there will be concepts related to death. Gods only care about the dead: the Goddess of Death in the Marvel Universe, and the deaths of members of the Infinity Family in the DC Universe.

Moreover, Rune didn't want to fuse souls simply for power. Those who would kill him were mostly beasts or worse than beasts. Fusing their souls would be like forcing a normal person to eat shit.

Although Superpower's body possessed a considerable degree of magic resistance, under Rune's terrifying magical power, his body quickly transformed into pure magic power, which was absorbed into Rune's body.

Looking at the Hyperion head in his hand, Rune sighed contentedly, "Wow, you're really delicious."

Snapped!

Rune snapped his fingers, and the mirror space vanished instantly, returning him to the real world. When he reappeared, he was accompanied by Jester and Harley Quinn.

In addition, there were some police officers lying on the ground, unable to resist. Considering that the Syndicate had become the ruler of the world, these police officers were probably not good people either. Even so, the Joker and Harley Quinn still showed great restraint and did not kill these people.

Rune looked at the two superheroes who were waiting for him and laughed. "Were you waiting for me?"

"Wow, sweetheart, you've finally appeared!" When Harley Quinn saw Rune appear, she immediately rushed over with a big laugh, hugged Rune, and then rubbed her face against Rune's cheeks.

The clown saw even more. He saw the domineering head in Rune's hand, the eyes that had once been filled with cruelty now just empty holes, and the dark magic that had just been used to devour Rune still lingered around him.

Like a deity in mythology, he was handsome, solemn, and aloof.

Fortunately, Rune quickly greeted them with a smile, a gesture that broke his composure and brought him back to the human world.

The clown's lips twitched. He knew his smile would frighten children, so he would consciously control it. But at this moment, he could no longer bear it.

"Ha—" A short, dry sound squeezed out of his throat. He hadn't drunk water for so long that the clown couldn't laugh immediately. But he swallowed and finally burst into laughter.

"Hahaha----"

His laughter contained no joy, only coldness and hysteria. Then, the clown posed a question.

"Then, this god among men—"

"What are your thoughts on us, and on this world?"
