Chapter 132 Isn't it a bit too impolite to ask someone to drink your blood on our first meeting?

When Rune opened his eyes again, he found himself being stared at by an angry wolf. But looking at the face, he instinctively greeted it, "Good morning, it's nice to see you again, Wolverine."

"I'm also glad to see you again, especially considering you just fell asleep in my class!" Logan glared sternly at Rune, then ignored the new student and turned back to the podium to continue his lecture.

Rune sighed. Why is he still a student?

After class, Wolverine glared at Rune again, then turned and left. Immediately after he left, the area around Rune became lively.

"Wow, you actually dared to sleep in Wolverine's class!"

"You're such a great idol! I'd love to do that too, but I've never dared to—"

The surrounding noise made Rune sigh, and then he left the classroom under the stares of everyone who looked at him like he was a god. He found himself in a school, and the teacher was Wolverine—wasn't this Xavier's Academy for Gifted Youngsters? Had he become a mutant? This was no good sign.

As we all know, mutants in Marvel have faced extinction multiple times. Rune personally knows of at least seven versions, with perpetrators including, but not limited to, Apocalypse, Scarlet Witch, and Inhumans. And it's uncertain whether this is actually Marvel. Rune believes the most important thing right now is to check television or magazines to determine where you are.

Upon arriving at the library, Rune indeed saw the small metal shelf displaying magazines. He immediately picked up a magazine...

After searching high and low, they finally found the decisive evidence. On that page, written in bold black font, was the title: "Iron Man: The Powers and Responsibilities of a Superhero—On the Necessity of the Superhero Registration Act," and it was something that had happened recently.

So the Avengers are still fighting a civil war?

Rune stroked his chin. The Superhero Registration Act requires all superheroes to register with the government, become government employees, subject to government and law, and serve the government. This might be considered a good law in countries across the ocean, but in the United States, it's a doomed bill.

A country that can't even control guns properly wants to manage superheroes, who are far more dangerous than guns? Even if it's a joke, shouldn't there be some basic law to follow?

Now that it was confirmed to be the Marvel universe, Rune immediately decided to find Shadowcat. Shadowcat possesses the ability to pass through any object and can share this ability with any mutant who touches her body. Yes, she can pass through anything, including not only concrete things like steel plates and concrete, but also abstract concepts like time and space. Therefore, she could be the final piece of the puzzle for Rune to upgrade his Dream of the West.

"What, are you interested in Phantom Cat?" The girl being asked had fluffy, medium-length black hair, a slender and athletic figure, and was wearing a bright yellow jacket, purple fingerless gloves, and ripped jeans, looking quite rebellious.

She looked Rune up and down, a mischievous sly look on her face. "You could totally be my boyfriend, why bother with her?"

Rune narrowed his eyes. He hadn't expected the mutant he'd randomly grabbed to be so...open. How to put it... the girl in front of him was actually quite pretty, but he didn't want a girlfriend right now; he wasn't even an adult yet!

"I have serious business with her," Rune said helplessly.

"Okay, okay!" The girl rolled her eyes. "But remember your promise—you have to help me with my homework!"

Watching her leave, Rune shook his head helplessly. Suddenly, a hand landed on his shoulder.

"Is she pretty?" A familiar voice came. Rune didn't even turn his head, but he knew who it was. Years of smoking cigars and repeated damage to his vocal cords from healing factors gave his voice a metallic, grainy quality, and when he said this, there was a trembling growl coming from his chest, like the growl of a wolf giving a low warning.

"It's quite pretty," Rune replied expressionlessly.

"I'm warning you, kid! If you dare to have any weird thoughts about her, I'll break your legs!"

Rune sighed. "She's Li Qianhuan, right, Logan?"

Wolverine nodded, a brief smile appearing on his face before quickly disappearing back into his thick, long beard. Nominally, Li Qianhuan was Wolverine's apprentice, but in reality, their relationship was more like that of father and daughter.

"I just want to find Phantom Cat." Rune produced a cigarette from his hand as if by magic and handed it to Logan.

Logan didn't refuse; he took one, but that wasn't enough, so he reached out to Rune, "Give them all to me."

Minors are not allowed to smoke.

"I don't smoke. This is for a friend of mine." Rune handed him the whole pack, snapped his fingers, and lit the cigarette that Logan had already put in his mouth. Logan then took a deep drag.

"British?"

Rune nodded.

"Hmph, this stuff doesn't even have any real nicotine." That's what he said, but Logan still finished the whole cigarette. He didn't like the refined style of cigarettes; he preferred strong, cheap, and direct tobacco—just like his life, rough but powerful.

"You better watch out, I'll be keeping an eye on you!" Logan said and left immediately.

Lu En waited a while longer before seeing Li Qianhuan approaching with two other people. One of them had a strand of white bangs mixed in with her long, dark brown hair, and was wearing thick gloves and a high-necked garment; the other was slender and slim, with long, smooth black hair tied in a low ponytail.

Rune could still hear their conversation from afar: "See, I told you so!" "He really is handsome." "How come you're eating so well? I also want to find a handsome young boyfriend!"

Once they got closer, they suddenly became reserved, leaving Rune speechless for a moment.

"Ahem, this is the Phantom Cat you've been looking for, Kitty!" Li Qianhuan pulled up the girl with the low ponytail and smiled as she boasted to Rune, "Not everyone can find the Phantom Cat. If Professor X hadn't recently required us to stay at the school, you wouldn't even have seen me."

Rune nodded, then bowed to the Phantom Cat: "Excuse me, may I have a drop of your blood?"

Phantom Cat's body instinctively blurred, and he jumped back half a step like a startled cat: "Do you know that saying something like that in a mutant academy is like asking for uranium-235 at the FBI's doorstep?"

"Of course," Rune nodded and said, "Just one drop is enough."

The next moment, half of Rune's body was wedged into the ground. She squatted down and said with a smile, "Now, would you like me to give you a chance to rephrase your thoughts?"

"That's amazing!"

Instead of begging for mercy, Rune looked at his half-buried body and couldn't help but marvel at the amazing abilities of mutants.
