65. Office Romance
"I wonder why you are yet to get pregnant after all these months. Are you sure Darian acknowledges you as his wife? Or you two are just putting on a show?" She rolled her eyes scornfully at Lena.
Lena smiled, "I have other things to do if you don't have anything else to talk about." She winked at Amy and walked out of her.
As she walked towards the elevator, she thought of Amy. She wished she didn't dislike her. Lena wasn't the type to detest people, but Amy always got on her nerves and she left her with no choice but to detest her.
She stopped in front of the elevator, waiting for it to open.
After some seconds, the door opened and Darian was in there with Jay, he had black glasses on. He was breathtakingly handsome. Lena's jaw dropped when she saw her husband, she didn't know he would come so soon.
"Helena," he called her name.
She smiled, all her worries disappeared the moment she set her eyes on him.
"What are you doing here?" She asked when he was out of the elevator.
His eyebrows furrowed, he pulled her into an embrace and pressed a kiss on her forehead.
"What if I said I came here because I was missing you too much?" Darian said.
She looked at Jay and clutched Darian's hands, she hauled him away from the elevator down to the hallway. "There have been rumors flying around, Darian." She grimaced.
"Rumors?"
"Yes, rumors that I get to do whatever I want to do in the casino because I am your wife and that you come here all the time to be with me. Thinking through it, I want to ask you a question." She gazed at him.
"What question do you have to ask me, wife?" He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer.
"Why are you always here? You should be working in your own company." She poked his chest playfully. "Don't kiss me, Darian. There will be rumors about me engaging in romance during work hours." She grumbled.
"Who cares?" He kissed her over and over.
He was still planting soft kisses all over her neck when Amy appeared in front of them. Lena linked her arms with his and gave him a light kiss on the cheeks as Amy gaped at them.
She was glad she bumped into them. Now, she would confirm if Darian took her as his wife or if they were just putting on a show as she implied before.
"Amy," Darian called, his hands still tightly clutched with Lena's.
"Darian, when did you get here?" Amy faked a smile.
"A few minutes ago. How have you been?" Darian asked. Lena felt jealous when Darian asked Amy how she was. She shook her hand off his.
"I have to go check something," Lena fibbed, walking out of them.
Darian said goodbye to Amy and jogged after Lena. When he caught up with her, he grabbed her hand and spun her around.
"What's wrong?" He cupped her face in his hand.
There was a scowl marring her face, her lips were twisted in a tight frown.
"Never mind," she jabbed her arms off his grip and folded them across her chest, annoyed. "Is there a way I can change my post here in the casino? I don't want to work as a hostess anymore." She told Darian.
"Why? Is Amy giving you trouble?" Darian frowned.
She wanted to scream yes, but she refrained. She might not like Amy, but she wouldn't do or say things that would defame her.
"The post of an assistant that Talia offered me before, I'd like to take it now. Can I still do that?" She implored, staring pleadingly into his eyes.
"I will talk to Talia about it and see if you can change. Did any of the men harass you?" His tone was rough now.
She shook her head, "I am just tired of arranging the game table and serving drinks to those old gamblers." She stopped walking and turned back to him. "Why are you here though?"
"I have a meeting with Talia," he told her.
"Then you should go meet her, she already asked after you." She said.
"Is it a crime that I want to spend some time with my wife before going to see Talia?"
"Darian," she blushed. "You didn't tell me you were coming for me. You came for someone else, you should go meet her." Lena pouted her lips and Darian leaned down to kiss her lips. She laughed, pushing him away with her hands.
"Are you jealous that I am here for some other woman?" He whispered into her ears.
"What? No?" She sneered at him. "I am not and it's not just some woman you are to see. You are here to see Talia, the one in charge of the casino. You two must have something serious to talk about." She tilted her head, slightly disappointed that Darian didn't tell her about the game beforehand. "Maybe the game, even though you won't tell me about it, Amy already told me and I am serving all the men who will come that day." She deadpanned.
"You can choose to ignore it if you don't want to."
"How will I do that?" She laughed, "By telling Amy that I am the Don's wife and she shouldn't put much pressure on me?" She asked Darian.
"I can stop her if you want me to." He brought out his phone from his pocket.
"I chose this post. I had no idea it was this stressful. I have a positive feeling that Talia would consider making me her assistant, she's so fond of me." Lena bragged.
"I see. Talia is calling already, I have to go see her now." He said, backing away from her.
He kissed her lips one more time before walking into the office.
Lena rubbed her finger on her lips as she watched Darian walk into Talia's office with coordinated steps. It melted her heart and she smiled.
That was her man, her husband, the man who owned the whole of her heart.
