Chapter 122 Oh oh oh~
Chapter 122 Oh oh oh~
By seven o'clock, the sky was already bright, and the light spilled through the French windows. Meng Jiangyu's biological clock woke him up before his alarm clock.
Shen Qingyao, still curled up in his arms, trembled her eyelashes and murmured, "Good morning."
"Get up, you little sleepyhead." Shen Qingyao slowly sat up, rubbing against his arm.
The two stood side by side in front of the marble countertop in the bathroom. Shen Qingyao squeezed out some toothpaste and handed it to him, while she held a toothbrush in her mouth, brushing her teeth with her cheeks puffed out, her eyes sparkling as she glanced at him in the mirror.
Meng Jiangyu lowered his eyes and gently brushed a stray hair from her cheek, his fingertips pinching her earlobe: "What are you looking at?"
"Look at the handsome guy."
"Look, look more." Meng Jiangyu affectionately stroked the top of Shen Qingyao's head.
While washing up and drying her face, Shen Qingyao couldn't wait to share: "Ayu, yesterday I passed by the pediatrics department and there was such a cute little kid who hugged my white coat and called me 'sister,' and even secretly slipped me a piece of candy."
Her chattering voice was like the chirping of birds in spring. Meng Jiangyu listened while shaving, "Really? So popular with kids."
"Yes." The two strolled into the dressing room, and Shen Qingyao expertly picked out a dark gray custom-made suit from his suit section: "Wear this today."
"Okay." Meng Jiangyu took off his bathrobe and put on a shirt.
Shen Qingyao hesitated for a moment before taking out a black, fitted top with flutter sleeves and a khaki A-line skirt from the other side.
Meng Jiangyu had already changed his clothes and was carrying a tie when he came over. He put his arm around Shen Qingyao's waist and kissed her.
Shen Qingyao's silk nightgown slipped off her shoulders. She patted Meng Jiangyu's back and said, "Ayu, if you keep going like this, you'll be late for work."
Meng Jiangyu rested his head on Shen Qingyao's shoulder. "Yaoyao, let me catch my breath."
A moment later, Meng Jiangyu took out the tie in his hand and gestured to Shen Qingyao, "Help me tie my tie."
"Okay." Shen Qingyao took the tie and tied a beautiful Windsor knot.
Breakfast was already laid out in the restaurant: warm milk, fresh vegetable salad, freshly toasted bread, and soft-boiled eggs, which Shen Qingyao loved.
She sat in the dining chair, holding a glass of milk, and continued to share interesting stories from the hospital, from difficult patients' families to gossip from the department, without stopping.
Meng Jiangyu didn't say much, only occasionally responding, his gaze falling on her smiling eyes, the coldness in his eyes completely softened by tenderness.
He had always disliked noise, but he particularly enjoyed her lively chatter in his ear.
After breakfast, the two held hands and went downstairs together.
A black Bentley stopped at the elevator exit, and the driver respectfully opened the car door.
Meng Jiangyu helped Shen Qingyao sit down before taking his seat as well.
The car drove smoothly out of the underground parking lot. Shen Qingyao leaned on his shoulder and talked about the outpatient clinic she went to with her supervising teacher yesterday: "Yesterday I met a junior high school student who came to see me for psychological problems. He didn't say a word the whole time. It was all his mother talking. As an observer, I could feel her extremely strong desire to control him. It felt so suffocating."
Meng Jiangyu raised his hand and ruffled the top of her head, his voice deep and pleasant: "And then, how did you handle it?"
"My approach is to calm the parents down and let the child speak for himself. If the mother disagrees, she starts to belittle her child, saying that he can't explain himself clearly or something."
"When I was teaching, they let me take the kids out for some fresh air," Shen Qingyao said, looking at Meng Jiangyu. "Guess what happened next?"
The car drove towards the city center. "I guess in the end, the two sides parted on bad terms."
"How did you know!"
"Actually, it's the child's mother who needs to see a psychologist, but she can't admit that she has a problem because she feels that her authority is being challenged."
"My mentor said the same thing," Shen Qingyao said thoughtfully. "That child is so pitiful."
"Yaoyao, that's their family matter," Meng Jiangyu added. "Don't try to interfere in other people's affairs; I don't want you to get hurt."
"But am I being too cold-blooded?"
"Yaoyao, emotions are the hardest thing to sever. If that child urgently needs money and you want to help him, I will not hesitate, because that can be cut off immediately, but emotions cannot."
Shen Qingyao didn't speak again, Meng Jiangyu's words echoing in her mind.
"In the end, they are family."
When passing the entrance of the Second Hospital, Meng Jiangyu asked the driver to stop.
Meng Jiangyu handed the bag and food box to Shen Qingyao: "Yaoyao, don't contact that child privately. There is too much suffering in this world. This is their way of cultivating themselves. Don't get involved."
Shen Qingyao pecked him on the corner of his lips: "Okay, I've thought it through. You should go to work now."
Watching her walk into the hospital gate, Meng Jiangyu instructed the driver, "Go to Hanhai."
The car restarted, and the carriage returned to silence.
Xiang Yu, Xu Huihui, and Lu Ying were waiting anxiously in the lounge. "Yao Yao, you've finally arrived!"
Shen Qingyao handed over the food box, "Eat!"
At 5:30 p.m., in the president's office on the top floor of the Hanhai Building, Meng Jiangyu closed the file, tapped the touchscreen twice with his fingertips, and said in a cold voice: "Prepare the car, go to the Second Hospital."
The car came to a smooth stop near the outpatient building of the Second Hospital. Shen Qingyao came out just then, and the setting sun cast a warm golden glow on her hair.
She spotted the familiar Bentley at a glance, her eyes lit up instantly, and she ran over, opened the car door, and threw herself into Meng Jiangyu's arms: "Ayu."
Meng Jiangyu reached out and caught her: "Are you tired today?"
"I'm not tired at all," Shen Qingyao said, tilting her head back and twirling her fingers around his tie. "This afternoon, my supervising teacher let me independently examine a patient, and I even made the correct differential diagnosis!"
Meng Jiangyu's voice was deep as he reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on the crook of her neck. "Our Yaoyao is so amazing."
"It's alright." She started chattering away, talking about the gossip she'd overheard in the next department today.
Meng Jiangyu leaned back in his chair and listened, his fingertips casually stroking the back of her hand, a faint smile playing on his lips.
When the two arrived home, Zhang Ma had already prepared dinner.
As dinner was served, the sun was just setting below the horizon.
The two sat facing each other, and Shen Qingyao placed a piece of stewed beef brisket, which was stewed until tender, into his bowl: "Try it, Aunt Zhang said it's been stewing for an afternoon."
Meng Jiangyu took a bite, the rich broth spreading on his tongue. He looked at the girl across from him, her eyes crinkling with laughter, his Adam's apple bobbing, and said in a deep voice, "Delicious."
"A few days ago at noon, Yingying and I ate at a private restaurant near the hospital. We thought the food was super delicious."
"Then I asked Aunt Zhang to make this dish, and it looks like it turned out great!"
After dinner, the two lay on the sofa and watched a show.
Meng Jiangyu pulled her into his arms, lowered his head and kissed her forehead, his voice incredibly gentle: "So, Qi Heng likes Sheng Minglan, doesn't he?"
"Yes, that's very clever." Shen Qingyao asked him, "So do you think Sheng Minglan will end up with Qi Heng?"
"No." Meng Jiangyu held the strawberry tip to Shen Qingyao's lips.
"Why?" Shen Qingyao was very curious; it was only the fourth episode, how did he figure that out?
"Because his parents don't approve." Meng Jiangyu said, eating the strawberry bottom that Shen Qingyao had left uneaten.
"How did you figure that out?" Shen Qingyao had looked at it dozens of times.
"Qi Heng is studying at the Sheng family's school. His parents should have come to visit during the New Year, but they didn't. Why is that?"
"Because you're busy?"
"No, for them, Qi Heng's studies are the most important thing, how could he not have time?"
"Why is that?"
"Because they look down on the Sheng family, how could they possibly agree to the two of them being together?"
"Do big families really care about social status?" Shen Qingyao asked nervously.
"Not necessarily, it depends on family tradition. My family isn't like that," Meng Jiangyu reassured her. "I like to do important things."
"Oh, oh, oh~" Shen Qingyao was pleased.
The night outside the window was getting darker, and the lights in the living room were warm and yellow.
