Chapter 556: Silly Boy
Chapter 556: Silly Boy
“Funerals usually don’t take long,” Dave said calmly. “But Grandpa isn’t well enough to get out of bed. Wait for my notice.”
With that, Dave turned and walked away.
Brady didn’t try to stop him. His eyes burned with frustration. The twenty billion he had made recently wasn’t nearly enough. As Dave disappeared from view, Brady pulled out his phone to secure another loan.
Hidden nearby, Dave quietly watched him. He could see the worry on Brady’s face. He knew Brady wasn’t done yet.
Dave couldn’t help but wonder what Brady was truly after. The Lawson Group wasn’t as rich as the Evans family, but it still held real power—it was the second most influential group in all of Edenfield.
Another message from Wyatt lit up Dave’s phone. He had found solid evidence linking Brady and the doctor to Rachel’s death. It was strong enough to take Brady down for good.
Dave stopped and closed his eyes for a moment. His aunt’s face came to mind, her gentle voice still clear in his memory. Even though she was gone, her presence still guided him.
Everything was ready. The final move had come.
When Dave opened his eyes, they were filled with determination. It was time for Phoenix Alliance Group to strike back.
He stepped aside and sent a message to Reece: “Go ahead. It’s time.”
At the same moment, Dave gave orders to all his overseas businesses.
“Execute our plan now!”
This was a strategy Dave had prepared long ago. He had held countless meetings, carefully planning for every possible move their enemies might make. That’s why he remained calm now.
His team had been waiting for this moment. They had stayed on standby around the clock, ready to act the second he gave the signal.
“Go! Let everyone know that Mr. Evans has given the order!”
At the same time, in different countries, Dave’s key partners called emergency meetings and began putting the plan into action.
“You’ve all worked hard these past two days,” Dave said. “Now it’s time to dump Lawson Group’s stock and push life back into Phoenix Alliance Group.”
This was the turning point. Even though Dave’s overseas companies had made big announcements, they hadn’t touched Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock yet. Dave had sensed that the enemy would keep dumping shares, which meant the price would keep falling.
So, instead, these foreign companies secretly bought up large amounts of Lawson Group stock through other channels. They had already made more than a three-point profit.
Then suddenly, the trading volume on major exchanges exploded. One after another, those companies started selling off Lawson Group shares in huge amounts. The price crashed. Within thirty minutes, it had dropped five percent and it was still falling tremendously.
At that critical moment, Brady got a report from his team. The so-called international investor turned out to be a multinational consortium. They had raised the interest rate from 13% to 15%, blaming the drop in Lawson Group’s stock.
“That’s just greed,” Brady muttered with a heavy sigh. A five percent drop was still within normal range, but the consortium was taking advantage like vultures circling prey.
Still, Brady could handle the extra 2%. If it meant destroying Phoenix Alliance Group and bankrupting the Evans family, it was a price he was willing to pay.
“Tell them it’s fine,” he said through clenched teeth.
But then his team shared even worse news, Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock was rising.
“Buy high, sell low. Hold your ground! Keep buying!” Brady growled, his face darkening.
He had no idea the world was already moving. The President of Heliosara had called an urgent meeting, gathering national support for Phoenix Alliance Group. At the same time, smaller countries started trading large amounts of money to buy up Phoenix Alliance Group shares.
In just moments, money from all over the world flooded into Hondune. Everyone was focused on the same thing, buying Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock. Slowly, the price started to rise, inch by inch.
Brady wiped the sweat from his forehead. A deep, heavy worry twisted in his chest.
Then, out of nowhere, Dave appeared behind him like a shadow. Brady flinched.
How did Dave move so quietly, like a shadow? Brady had been so caught up in his thoughts, he didn’t even notice him coming.
While Brady looked tense, Dave stood there completely calm.
“Thank you, Brady,” Dave said.
The words hit like a sharp blade, cutting into Brady’s forced confidence.
Brady kept his cool and asked, “Thank me for what?”
Dave smiled widely. “For your advice. Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock is rising again, and my grandpa’s feeling better. The doctor says he’ll be out of bed in two days.”
“Oh? Did the Evans Group inject capital?” Brady glanced at his phone and saw the rising numbers. “No wonder the stock’s going up. That’s good news.”
But right after he spoke, Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock started to dip again. Brady let out a tight smile. The Evans family was powerful in Edenfield, but the world had even bigger players.
Just a while ago, Brady had secured access to another forty billion dollars. The interest was still 15%, but it came at a cost, he had to put up 51% of Lawson Group’s shares as collateral. He hated the deal, but seeing Dave’s frown gave him some satisfaction.
What Brady didn’t know was that Dave wasn’t upset. He was just surprised Brady had agreed to those terms. If Brady failed to repay, he’d lose Lawson Group. And even if he did repay, the damage would be deep.
This was Dave’s final move. To set the trap, he first had to build up Brady’s confidence and then bait him with an offer he couldn’t refuse.
The powerful investor Brady had in mind—the multinational giant—was Triumph Capital. What he didn’t know was that Dave was one of its shareholders.
Triumph Capital had been built by some of the richest people in the world. But no one knew Dave was one of the silent forces behind it.
The game was just getting started, and Brady still hadn’t realized he had picked the wrong person to fight.
Trying to sound reassuring, Brady said, “Don’t worry, Dave. This drop in the stock is just a normal dip. It’ll bounce back.”
Dave didn’t flinch. “Evans Group’s funds are drained. I signed a bet agreement. If this keeps going, our value will drop more than 30%. And Phoenix Alliance Group won’t be mine anymore.”
Brady widened his eyes and let out a dramatic gasp. “You… you silly boy!”
Brady had known this from the start. He was desperate. He had thrown everything he had into one risky move.
But now, Brady felt a rush of excitement. If the stock price crashed to its lowest point again, both Phoenix Alliance Group and Evans Group would be doomed.
