Accidentally Slept With The Ruthless Billionaire

Chapter 550: Find Out What Happened To Rachel

Chapter 550: Find Out What Happened To Rachel

"Rachel... Rachel, she..." Brady turned away, tears falling down his cheeks.

He looked like a man who really loved his wife.

Bianca felt something was wrong. She held Dave’s hand tighter.

"Rachel couldn’t take the pain anymore. She ended her life this afternoon," Brady said. Then he dropped to his knees in front of Dave. "It’s my fault. I didn’t take good care of her. I didn’t think her condition would get worse so fast."

"What? What did you just say?" Dave grabbed Brady by the collar, lifting him off the ground. His other hand was clenched into a fist. "Say that again!"

Bianca covered her mouth, shocked by everything she was hearing.

Brady kept his head down, but a faint smile crept onto his face. He wanted to shake Dave. He wanted him to lose control in the days ahead. This was all part of Brady’s plan. He wanted to bring down the Evans Group and take their place at the top.

"Rachel, she... she’s dead."

Dave’s eyes turned blank and unreadable. Now it all made sense. The restlessness he felt on the way here. Why Rachel hadn’t answered his calls. Why Grandpa collapsed.

Aunt Rachel was Grandpa’s favorite. He was strict with his son and grandson, but he gave everything to his daughter. How could he survive this news?

Dave slowly let go of Brady’s collar. His mind was racing, filled with too many thoughts at once. Of all the things he had expected to deal with today, this wasn’t one of them. He never imagined Aunt Rachel would die. Not today. Not on the very day the Lawson Group and the Phoenix Alliance Group were clashing.

The timing felt too perfect. Too planned. Dave couldn’t brush it off as coincidence.

It was clear now—the other side wasn’t just ruthless. They had been scheming for a while. They used Rachel’s death to break Grandpa even more and stir chaos within the Evans family.

In that moment, Dave saw through Brady’s plan. But it was already too late. Rachel was gone.

Bianca moved closer and gently took his arm. She saw how tense he was and softly asked, “Dave, are you okay?”

Dave shook his head.He stared at Brady, a glint of regret in his eyes. If only he had seen through Brady sooner… maybe Rachel would still be alive.

Dave’s mind drifted back to his childhood. Rachel had always been kind to him—second only to his parents. He had planned to invite her to his wedding, to share that special moment with her.

Now, she was gone. And all that was left was regret.

“If hitting me will make you feel better, go ahead,” Brady said coldly, snapping Dave out of his thoughts.

“If a punch could bring Rachel back, or wake Grandpa up, I’d do it without thinking,” Dave shot back. His eyes flicked to a nearby security camera. Losing control now would only give the Phoenix Alliance Group more fuel for their headlines.

Brady, always good at putting on a show, probably thought no one had seen through him.

But thanks to Wyatt’s careful investigation, Dave knew the truth.

The real mastermind behind it all was Brady—the fake, soulful man who led the Lawson Group.

Suddenly, the sound of quick footsteps echoed through the hall.

Lucas’s medical team arrived, along with the Evans family’s security team. Among them were Dave’s personal bodyguards, ensuring top-level protection.

“From this moment on, they’ll take over Grandpa’s care,” Dave said, giving Brady a sharp look. “Now that Grandpa’s unconscious, I’ll be the one handling everything for the Evans family.”

Brady still wanted to speak, but Dave didn’t give him the chance.

“Aunt Rachel just passed. I understand you’re grieving. I’ll have someone take you back so you can rest. I’ll stay here,” Dave said calmly.

Two secret bodyguards stepped forward right away. They grabbed Brady and started escorting him out.

Brady tried to fight back, but he was no match for their strength. He shouted, “I’m not leaving! I care about Lucas too!”

Dave didn’t say a word. He didn’t even look at him. His fists clenched tightly. There were times he didn’t want to act this way but he had no choice.

As the men walked up the stairs, Franklin quietly passed along Lucas’s message to Dave.

“If anything happens to him… the Evans Group will be yours.”

Dave had always wanted to stay away from the Evans Group, but he was still part of the family.

This time, though, he had no choice.

The Phoenix Alliance Group couldn’t afford to collapse. The Evans Group couldn’t fall into disarray either.

Even if he didn’t agree with his Grandpa on many things, family matters were still their own business.

But now that there were outside threats, he had to put his feelings aside and step up for the family.

Looking at the flashing red light outside the emergency room, Dave turned to the doctors and specialists.

“Do everything you can to save my Grandpa. Once he’s stable, move him to a better hospital right away.”

After losing Aunt Rachel today, Dave couldn’t handle the thought of losing Grandpa too.

Taking over the Evans Group wasn’t something he had planned. It just happened.

“Grandpa, I’m only stepping in for now. I hope you’ll be okay,” Dave mumbled.

But deep down, he made a promise. If Rachel’s death wasn’t suicide, he would make Brady pay for it with no mercy.

Walking towards Wyatt, Dave leaned closer and whispered. “Find out what really happened to Rachel.”

Wyatt nodded and left right away.

Bianca grabbed his hand and asked him. “What can I do?”

She really wanted to help. But in that moment, she realized… there was nothing she could do.

Dave pulled Bianca closer and said softly, “I need your help with something. Something no one else can give me.”

“What is it?” Bianca asked while looking at his tired face.

Dave rested his head on her shoulder. “Just let me lean on you for a bit. I need to close my eyes.”

Bianca looked at him again. His breathing was calm. He had fallen asleep.

She couldn’t imagine everything he had gone through that day.

The Phoenix Alliance Group’s stock had crashed that morning. Then, he lost someone he loved that night. And this time, the loss couldn’t be undone.

“Honey, I’m incredibly lucky to have you by my side.”

Bianca paused. She wasn’t sure if she had really heard Dave say that. But when she looked at him, she smiled gently.

“I’ll always be here for you. Always.”

Time passed slowly. Before they knew it, the sun had already risen.

Then, the emergency room light turned from red to green. The doors opened, and the doctors stepped out.
